Weber carb jet settings

Let me say first that I’m not very engine/mechanically savvy but am becoming a little more so! So the context is I was experiencing unpleasant fuel smells whilst driving, possibly with the window open and not moving very quickly. The fuel tank shows no sign of leaks and the mostly existing exhaust s...

Re: struggling to find a leisure battery that fits behind passenger seat

Just in case it’s of interest, with the same height restriction I opted for a 60 Ah Victron Energy AGM Super Cycle battery that is stated to ‘cope’ with ‘depth of discharge’ better than the ‘average’ battery: https://www.victronenergy.com/upload/documents/Datasheet-AGM-Super-Cycle-battery-EN.pdf Pos...

Re: Relay 292, a technical study.

So I got a relay 292 just before lockdown ‘life’ began and forgot about it until this week (!) when I found it again and fitted it. Not surprisingly having re read the Wiki, because I have relay 19 fitted, it doesn’t work or rather it works randomly and therefore unreliably. I’d like to wire it outs...

Re: Camping table recommendation?

I opted for a light weight ish metal bistro table -60cm diameter, which when 'collapsed' is flat ish and I tie it to the back of the passenger seat. I did away with the 'hole in floor' fixed table in my van, and use the bistro inside too ! Works well for me.

Re: Winter camper care

Thanks all. I had left her a while so she did grumble a bit about starting, but did - phew ! And we've been shopping locally a few times, so all sweet at the moment. I did lubricate the locks, so they work nice/more smoothly now, and I found an Autoglym 'wash & protect kit' that had carnauba wax...

Re: 240V Heater

Thanks AngeloEvs , that's very helpful. I hope not to experience anywhere near -10, but I have liked Autumn camping for the quietness of sites etc. What is the make and size of your heater please? I'd like something on the small side just because of storage. I do have thermal window mats, which were...

Winter camper care

This is my first winter with my first camper and I'm wondering what care 'actions' I should be taking to look after 'her' (Sybl) over winter. I don't have a garage and park on street. What care do you 'old hands' take of your vans over winter please?

240V Heater

My last camp was last year mid November in Yorkshire (visit to YSP and The Hepworth in Wakefield; both brilliant), when the temps fell a lot for possibly the first time. It was 4c in the both the fridge and the van (!) and probably (hopefully) even colder outside. I was on a Certified Site that did ...

Wireless rear parking sensors

I had rear parking sensors (RPS) fitted to my '56 plate VW Caddy (work van) by a mobile fitting company, and they've been great. I asked the same company about fitting RPS to my campervan and they've said they need to be wireless at £199; gulp ! I've sent them pictures of the engine bay and what loo...

Re: Intermittent wiper relay working ish ?!

Thanks all and sorry slow responding. I posted just pre the mayhem of packing for a break in The Lakes and just back this week; happily only needed the wash wipe to clear the screen of debris ! I tried this last night: turn on then immediately off; wait a count of 10; turn on and again immediately o...

Intermittent wiper relay working ish ?!

Apologies if this has already been asked and 'solved'; I haven't found it with a search ! I bought a 'No. 99 relay (part number 357 955 531) for variable intermittent wipe' as suggested in the Wiki, and with it fitted (existing metal pin and white plug removed) I get a wash wipe :ok but moving the l...

Re: Floor hole for table leg

Thanks all; looks good CovKid . The through the floor hole doesn't seem to have been a well thought out mod in the original conversion ! Sadly I've been told that welding isn't an option without removing all the floor etc., because of the heat generated; so that's a no go. An aluminum 'patch' affixe...

Floor hole for table leg

My van has a rectangular table in the 'living area' supported on a single stem secured in a hole in the floor. I'm in the process of laying a vinyl/rubber tile floor and was pondering 'doing away' with the hole fixing (I do seem to trip up it often !) and the table, as I find it too big/not well loc...

Re: Hightop Awning

...Where the brackets needed to fit in the gutter channel I dug out the filler and a piece of high top lip, fitted the brackets and replaced filler ie Tiger Seal. Never had any problems. ... mmm I did wonder about doing that, but felt quite apprehensive about trying to cut 30+ year old fibreglass !...
