I have listed the details in the vehicles for sale area. Now sold

Three are fairly easy to get at, but the one directly under the pump can be a pain. I removed the three easy ones, then slackened the nut on the dificult one and left it attached to the copper bar, then i unscrewed the plug and lifted it out by pulling the bar. Fitting a new one is just the reverse....

Mine is the 1600 compact but the stat has only 4 conections

The instructions show

Heater red to Stat red & battery + Terminal 1
Heater orange to Stat Green Terminal 2
Heater Violet to Stat White Terminal 3
Heater Black to Stat Brown & battery - Terminal 4

Yep know about the cold start lever and have always used it from cold.
I will try leaving the ignition on longer but if it like it was before i changed the plugs and relay it wil stay on permanantly and still will not start

I have replaced the glow plugs, cleened up the busbar and replaced the relay and it has made no differnce. The large fuse is ok and there is power to the glow plugs but it is still not getting them hot enough to start the engine and the warning light is still staying on. Has anyone got any other ide...

I have a 1.6 deisel camper and the problem that has just developed is that the glow plug warning light stays lite when you are trying to pre heat the glow plugs, and it does not start till you have done about 10 pre heats, when it does start the warning light goes out as it should and it starts from...

Thanks to everyone for the really helpfull advice, i will have a go at freeing it off as soon as it's warm enought to work under the van outside without freezing to death.

The front diff on my 88 syncro is locked, the diff light is on and it is almost imposible to turn the wheels.
It had been stood for some time before i bought it and it has not been driven as i got it trailered.
Is it a big job to get it to disengauge.

Yes it has stood for a couple of years but there was fuel in the system. If the timeing does not sort it i will look at the pum seals.

I am borrowing the tool from a friend for setting up the cam but unfortunatly he has lent it to someone else, so it will be another week before i get it.

I have also spoken to a guy that knows about diesels and he also thinks the timing is out, so i will let you know how i get on with it next weekend.

Its has a full tank of new fuel and the fuel filter has been changed but not tried injector cleaner.
