Re: Kameo Hi Top Plastic Window Replacements

Try EECO, they require an old (damaged) window as a pattern to make a mould for the new window.
They will re use the aluminium hinge rail from your old window.

Re: Help please. Rm122 fridge how long before

The fridge must be level, part of the system relies on gravity If your drive slopes you will need to level your van. When you service a fridge it's always best to fit a new jet Also there should be a baffle in the chimney, a twisted piece of tin hanging on the end of a short wire. It ensures the hea...

Re: What Engine?

As I mentioned at the end of my V8 project thread, I really ran out of resources for the project, time cash and inspiration. I've kept in touch with James who bought it. He fitted the centre windows I had for it and installed his own camping interior. He has redone the interior again this year with ...

Re: What Engine?

Can a novice work on the engine ? I depends on what you mean by novice, if you have worked on cars before, can read a manual and follow the instruction, I don't see why not? With the exhaust removed the front of the engine is very accessible (cambelt, water pump, oil pump) Pick a donor with OBD11 a...

Re: What Engine?

We have owned several 1.9wbx campers over the years. On a typical run consisting motorway, A and B roads and cruising at 55 to 60 mph, 26 to 28 mpg was normal. Our current Devon pop-top has a 2.5 quad cam subaru and a DT gearbox (tallest standard ratios) We still drive at the same pace and get 28 to...

Re: Gearbox/Clutch problems.

We had similar symptoms with our van at the end of last year. Clutch seemed not to disengage fully, had to start it in gear as couldn't get into gear when stationary. I was convinced it must be slave cylinder/clutch shaft or the clutch itself. I did notice a screechy noise when reversing it onto the...

Re: Zig Unit

Beware when adjusting the position of the terminals. The brass rivets that join the terminal to the fuse holder break, and when one goes repair work and checks result in more failing. Easy to fix though. Drill out the holes with a 1/8 drill and refasten using short 1/8 pop rivets. If the rivets are ...

Re: VW V8 Project

You are so philosophical about it after all the work you have put in. You fitted that engine in so neatly. Once it is finished it has to do the quarter mile at Santa Pod. Are you buying another van/project? Whatever happens it would be good to see you at another meet! :ok Was sad to see it go but g...

Re: VW V8 Project

Re: VW V8 Project

New gearbox is finally fitted and works a treat. I have however decided to sell the van (ad in vehicles for sale) I've thoroughly enjoyed working on it and driving it, but don't really have the resources to move the project on any further. Thanks to everyone who has taken an interest in the project....

Re: VW V8 Project

Just a bit of an update , the vans off the road, sorned for the winter. The gearbox rebuild has progressed slowly and is now ready for fitting when the weather warms up. Eventually bought a new synchro hub and a second hand 0.82 4th gear set. (Thanks Aidan) This makes the gearing the same as a DK bo...

Re: VW sphere/globe coolant expansion tank

I have used the Golf goldfish bowl header tank on my V8 conversion , Its cooling system holds 18 litres in total. The little goldfish bowl seems supprisingly big when you put it in the engine bay ! I fill the tank to the max line which is slightly under 1/2 full. When hot the level rises to a fracti...

Re: How much does it take to cook an engine?

Our previous van overheated and lost most of its water (clouds of steam and water on the road. Repaired the leak and refilled and bled the system, it leaked a little water from the water jacket seals round both heads , so treated to rad weld - was fine after that. Deffinatly worth replacing the pump...

Re: bigger radiator

My T25 V8 is running a standard 1.9 rad but Ive replaced the rover water pump with a pair of davies craig ewp80's. There is a lot of heat to get rid of, the cab floor gets too hot to touch under the rubber mat ! The engine has a T25 temperature sender fitted , the rover one will work but not correct...
