Re: Mechanic Etiquette

Presuming the mechanic is charging £50 an hour, he has probably spent around 7 hours plus parts (or something like that). I would expect a mechanic to be able to diagnose a fault, on what is by modern terms, a fairly simple vehicle in 7 hours. I would take it back and have a reasonable chat with the...

Re: planning cornwall trip

'Andy gas' opposite the shell garage is supposed to be the lowest for lpg at Cribbs Causeway. Cheers for that ... I assume 'he' is only office hours though ? Ian Not sure? Maybe opening times on the web somewhere. If m5 is busy and you don't need to stop at cribbs, try m4/m49 detour to avoid traffic.

'Andy gas' opposite the shell garage is supposed to be the lowest for lpg at Cribbs Causeway. I believe you can also kip in the car park of the Fox at Easter Compton, which is 1/2mile on opposite side of motorway J17 from Cribbs Causeway. If you have a few beers or ask nicely they will leave all the...

Re: Vendee region of France...

If you're going to or near la Rochelle , cross the bridge to the ille de re. You have to pay a toll to drive over but it's a lovely island. I''ve stayed at Camping Sunelia Interlude on the beach at le Bois Plage . St Martin de Re is a lovely port with cafes around the harbour. Well worth a visit. :...

Re: Advice with travelling through Rouen France requested please

Also be aware if you have a HT camper of the infamous restricted height underpasses in the area.

Its a common place for vans/motorhomes etc to become stuck!

Cheers

Re: Trefalen Farm, Pembrokeshire

I camped at the site last summer and it was a great place.

I know that area well as I grew up in the next village along the coast, Freshwater East. Its also worth having a look at Portclew farm in Freshwater East, as its a good site but can be a bit wind swept.

Re: Speed of a properly serviced and tuned engine?

You will also find that its not engine power that you are running out of (not that there is alot on a JX) but gearing. My Westy JX Hightop probably does the same speed as yours, but any faster the engine seems to be reving high because of the gearing. I've also worked out the time difference between...
