I very frustratingly have Oil pissing out of the Turbo into the exhaust. It's an AAZ Turbo on a 1Y Engine. I've rebuilt the Turbo with new seals etc.. Hi all I'm currently in the process of Turboing my 1Y. I've a 1Y with the TD block that I've been running in the van for the last year. I've got a Turbo with both manifolds plus pump and injectors off an AAZ. Aside of the Turbo oil return is there anything else major to consider? I'll need a little ...

Check what gearbox the 1.9D is running.
If it's the original 1.6 or 1.7D box it's not well suited to the 1.9 and it'll be revving out at low speed, you'll know when you test drive it.

65-70 cruising and you can still chat in the cab not a bother!!

I've no tester for that unfortunately so I'm burying my head and hoping that's not the problem!!
In the mean time I swapped out the pump and injectors and spent an age setting the timing and now it seems way better.

I recently swapped out my sick 1Y for a fresh one but it's not as powerful. I've just done a 600 mile trip on it with no overheating issues and the motor did not miss a beat. It used to cruise at 65/70mph now it barely tops 55 with very slow acceleration!! Also, it doesn't start as easily with initi...

best way to get any sense out the dealers parts gimp is to know what you want...turning up saying i have a van...i need a pipe but not for the van..its a golf engine...i think..what golf? dunno...year? dunno...chassis numbers? erm..dunno..order a part, it wont fit etc...no wonder they are less than...

You are using a commerical dealer? My local parts dealer is a top bloke and I get trade. Build up a relationship and they will go out of there way for you. I have ordered quite a bit from them down the years though :lol: I hear yer Cruz, I've a great local parts dealer but some times they'll still ...

The plastic one that runs from the rocker cover to the engine block.

I've trawled through the wiki and numerous wheel threads and although there's tons of great info I can't quite find what I'm lookin for. What is the best 15" Steel wheel to use (non syncro)?? Is there there a VW one with appropriate ET? I've some VW ones, I think off a Passat but the ET is 47mm...
