nope, no water loss at all... Its not really steam, more of a thick cloud!

no the breathers are not connected to the air intake. They are piped into a catch bottle.

I will check the pulley, seen that mentioned before. Its odd it only does it when the throttle is closed.

Have a van fitted with 1.9 AAZ. Engine has covered about 60K miles, about 10K of them in the van with no problems. Last week it started smoking. Its ok when driving / on full throttle (perhaps a tiny bit of blue smoke), runs clean, but when you back off so on overrun with throttle closed it puffs......

make sure its bolted in properly before you run the engine... It drives the oil pump. I had one pop out of an AAZ after the clamp came loose and it trashed the engine ...

yup. I want to check where the feeds for the aux water pump and turbo fan come from, also the glow plugs : the glow circuit needs a temp sender feed? (works without)

I am aware there a different colour (codes) of spring for syncros.

Does anyone know what they all are / what they mean? Do you know what lengths / spring rates they are?

perhaps not the right are to ask but can anyone supply me a wiring diagram for a UK turbo diesel engine / engine bay? any will do..
