I have obtained some etch[ing] primer and will use Hammerite over that. Experiments proving ok.
CombiColor do a larger range of colours but expensive. Black/white etc. available in small tins, and cheaper. All other colours too larger tin for my needs

Re: Paint for aluminium
I’m not sure but i think you need a etch primer before painting aluminium , as with all painting, prep is the important bit I am hoping Combi Colour will work 'cos it has a range of colours and according to the web site it has built in primer. Have emailed Rustoleum to ask them. Going to clean wit...

Paint for aluminium
Looking for a paint for aluminium, preferably aerosol. Any suggestions please?
Alternatively can one use a paint for aluminium and then put an oil or acrylic or water based paint over the top so as to obtain the colour required.
Thanks

Ignition wiring
Just received a new tracker unit which is going over the cab in the off side of the high top. Have 3 wires to connect. Live and Negative, they are already up there from the old tracker. Also have to connect to an ignition wire or an accessory that receives power with the ignition. Any suggestions a...

Engine/gearbox swap
Currently run on my 1.9 water cooled and lpg when you can find a garage. No problems but did think about swapping engine and gearbox [automatic] for something else. But what? Current system has done 109,000 at around 20ish mpg. Thought maybe another engine + box giving me more mpg would be a good ...

Drive Belt treatment
Have a noisy/screeching drive/fan belt. It is a new belt and tensioned 'right up'. All wheels cleaned. Only screeches for about 10/15secs after start up then it is fine. Any one made up some home made anti slip 'paste? The price of shop bought belt lubricant is silly money for something that will ge...

Re: Calling all Holdsworth roof owners
Have a friend who has [had] a pop top Holdsworth. He had a high top added but not sure whether it was to gain more room or he was having trouble with the pop top.

Re: High top removal
As a point of interest it is surprising how much of the tin top roof edge one can see/feel by lifting the internal plywood roof flooring. I checked mine sometime back.

Any suggestions please
My 87/88 wagon has now done 110,000 miles. I have owned it since 1999. It has done us proud and had no major problems. I feel it could do with a bit of attention. There is oil around the gearbox [auto]/engine junction and the radiator etc probably needs replacing. The new lpg valve needs fitting. Th...

Welding rods
Has anyone tried the welding rods that just need a blowtorch to melt? Have seen some adverts recently and thought they might be ok for some light bodywork repairs.
Just a thought.

Re: Fuels
Thanks for that.
Forgot about the carb rubbers. Changed the fuel hoses when E5 arrived. Not sure if they are E10 proof?
What with the shortage of lpg and E5..................getting too old for all this
