Re: double pole MCBs in consumer unit
Thanks for the relies chaps - as you say 123-jn, the problem seems to be with Europe and the possibility of reverse polarity.
I didn't realise you couldn't mix brands billybigspud, it gets more complicated!

double pole MCBs in consumer unit
I'm trying to get my head around what's required for 240v hook up and consumer units and was wondering if any sparky wizards can help... I understand that current regulations stipulate that double pole mcbs when it comes to camper vans - or 1P+N breakers are acceptable and meet regulations (this mak...

Re: insulation
Humm, interesting idea... :ok I'm treating the sound and heat insulation differently.. For sound insulation I will use silent coat (unless I find something better when time comes to buy) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Silent-Coat-2mm-Bulk-Pack-40-Sheets-Car-Sound-Deadening-Vibration-Proofing-Mat-/1511556...

Re: insulation
In my humble opinion, bubble foil isn't a whole lot of use unless it has an air gap, and gluing it to the outer skin doesn't achieve that. Actually, that's not only my opinion - I used to do work for an insulation company that makes the stuff and that's also what they say. I use this stuff which is ...

Re: Sourcing an engine
UniB I've got a rebuilt 1.6 GTD engine done by RES in Sheffield sat in the garage ready to go in end of Sept/Oct, will let you know, happy so far but proof of the pudding etc. Nige That's interesting to know Nige, what were the costs like, similar to recon or a lot more? Wonder if they can rebuild ...

Re: Sourcing an engine
When ever the subject of recon engines comes up there's never a definitive answer of who's good and who's not - there's always someone who's had a bad experience with everyone who's mentioned. I will also be looking for a replacement engine later this year, The Engine Shop look like a reasonable cho...

Re: Dai Syncro's interior build (with photos)
Ah yes, the Kapex... that reminds me, I've got a lottery ticket from Saturday I haven't checked... I haven't actually seen the funny light thing in action on the Festool jigsaw, looks like an interesting idea, no good then?! Festool kapex chop saw is painfully expensive but I've never used anything ...

Re: Dai Syncro's interior build (with photos)
I wouldn't be without that TS55 - probably the most used tool in the workshop. If I had the money I'd replace everything I could with Festool stuff, it'll be a sander next, or maybe a jigsaw.

Ah yes, sorry - I'll get some more pics when Dai brings the van back at the weekend - you'll just have to put up with looking at the timber for now

Re: Dai Syncro's interior build (with photos)
After another week of long days the main units are just about done and Dai's even managed to get the van back to play with! I haven't managed to get many photos I'm afraid but I did get this one last night before Dai took it away. http://www.dubteriors.co.uk/dsi/main-t25-cupboards.jpg Top locker to ...
