Turns out it was the upper roller - it shouldn't be in two halves, replacement on order and door hung again! At least this time it fell apart at home and enabled me to work out which bit had failed. Question, when reassembling the door should I grease the centre guide rail, or not...there is no sign...

We have a Thule tow ball mounted rack that has (and is) serving us well. I have also found Thule's customer service to be excellent when I lost bit's off some roof bars, so probably not the cheapest but built to last. Had a quick look at their site and they do a two bike carrier ( ours was a three)

Hi - We seem to a have a similar problem - came away last night for our first overnight - not far 30 miles or so - van seemed sluggish (not pulling)) for the amount of kit on board - got to entrance of the site and she died - would start but not run- got off the road by revving hard - seems we boile...

Cheers lloydy - found it - one lousy screw - hiding out of site - once that was out the whole thing slid foward like a dream...now gets added to my list of things to do - wire wool all the pipework and go to work with the hammerite - guess I need some heat resistant paint for the pipes?
