CV joints I think
Our '87 Caravelle has developed a bit of a knock. It comes mostly over 30-40 km/hr, reminds me a bit of that classic CV joint sound except for the fact that it comes when you drive in straight line (with power on) and doesn't change or worsen in turns. I have checked the engine/gearbox mounts and wh...

Re: Insulation
Thanks, we are only fair-weather campers too (well at least so far) but it just seemed like now that everything is stripped back that I should do something

Insulation
I am in the process of stripping the inside of our Caravelle and replacing it with a Reimo camper interior. I am wondering what to replace the original floor insulation with, and am also looking for ideas on what to fill the side panels with (if anything at all)? https://i1.wp.com/angusedmond.files....

What gauge of wire to choose and where to get it?
Our camper is about to get a bit of an overhaul and this will involve new wiring throughout. To make sure I am not losing any time sourcing wiring after I start the project I was going to try and get it before hand. Does anyone have any rules of thumb for what gauge of wiring to use for the electric...

Older Reimo pop-top problems
https://i0.wp.com/angusedmond.files.wordpress.com/2018/03/img_6171.jpg?ssl=1&w=450 The struts that hold the roof on our van up have been gradually getting worse and worse, to the extent that rather than compress the gas struts that hold the roof up they prefer to just bend and send the roof sid...

Re: Runs then dies
We have a weird problem that when cold the engine starts fine but then dies immediately (unless you give it a load of throttle) It might do this twice before I can get it to stay running with a little for on the gas. Once warm it is fine. Could ours be the same issue? It literally started doing it f...

What do all these wires do?
I have been trying to diagnose some starter problems we have been having and in that process removed the passenger seat to get at the battery. In this process I found a few loose wires, while they probably aren't at the heart of my starting problem they do worry me. Can anyone tell me where they sho...

Re: Gas struts for Reimo roof
Jim, SCA says that the struts are 820mm long. I measure mine as 800mm eye to eye (although they are being replaced) I am wondering if there is a little compression that should be in there, as I can get mine in without shortening them (although it is really hard and takes the mere people)

Re: Gas struts for Reimo roof
Thanks. Mine is the kind where the whole roof goes straight up. But it sounds like from SGA that the struts are the same

Re: How much rust is too much rust?
Thanks guys. I had thought something similar myself. Not sure if I can sell it with a good conscience though... Another idea I had was to find a nice (rust free) Caravelle or Syncro and do a transplant of all the camping equipment.
