Re: License Plate Lights Not Working
Thank you for all this information Robsey. It is much appreciated. I had an hour spare today and tidied up some connections and tried a couple of things (no joy). Wiring is new territory for me, so it could take me a while. I'll keep trying things on your list 👍 My van is an 84, pretty sure it is a ...

License Plate Lights Not Working
Years ago one of my license plate lights went out. It wasn't the bulb so I got a mate who was an electrician to quickly sort it for me before I went away in the van. They've stopped working again now and I've decided to sort out the mess that's back here too. https://i.ibb.co/D7czn3m/IMG-20240316-13...

Re: Installing aftermarket rev counter / tacho into a petrol T25
I can confirm that the dimmer switch does indeed work in the current configuration! That was a nice surprise. Not sure if you can tell in the pictures? Definitely noticeable in person. Re: Installing aftermarket rev counter / tacho into a petrol T25
Tachometer lighting wire is connected to the blue/grey wire on the 14 pin connector.
I will test if the dimmer has any effect tomorrow.

Re: Installing aftermarket rev counter / tacho into a petrol T25
That could be useful. Does it involve tapping into another wire, or do you need to mess with the blue plastic circuit?
I think I'd rather mess the aftermarket tachometer than a 40 year old circuit board.

Re: Installing aftermarket rev counter / tacho into a petrol T25
No worries (Hairy is fine), I'm glad I could finally give back on the forum. Let me know how you get on.
I may make a write up for more diesel owners on here. It turned out to be a pretty simple install, but there isn't a lot of information available.

Re: Installing aftermarket rev counter / tacho into a petrol T25
Hi Rob, I've downloaded a few apps. The one I found easiest to use was called "Bike RPM". Set the app to 4 Stroke and 4 Cylinder (or more) and hit "run". Test it with your daily driver 1st to confirm you've got it set up right. https://i.ibb.co/CHfktqg/Screenshot-2024-03-08-11-07...

Re: Tensioner Slipping after Belt (and Tensioner) Change
You might want to re-read the message you quoted David. I've run the van loads of times since and everything seems fine. The tensioner does indeed move around slightly, so I will assume this is normal. Here's it's latest position: https://i.ibb.co/YP75ycx/IMG-20240303-153159.jpg It's almost spot on!...

Re: Installing aftermarket rev counter / tacho into a petrol T25
Thanks for all the help, I got it working this morning. https://i.ibb.co/SVGZ76Z/IMG-20240309-120237.jpg Turns out a (late) diesel Tachometer is wired up exactly the same as the petrol one in this post. Took me 20 minutes to fit and I'm really pleased with how it looks. Also, someone mentioned I wou...

Re: Installing aftermarket rev counter / tacho into a petrol T25
Cheers Aidan, I will try and look for that label tomorrow.
I saw another post on an American site that stated that the W terminal wire is the all red wire on the diesel connector. I will try and double check this with the label tomorrow.

Re: Installing aftermarket rev counter / tacho into a petrol T25
All the parts arrived for my tachometer today, so I just had a quick look for the connection I need to tap into. I think I have found it. https://i.ibb.co/m0B0pnW/IMG-20240308-162940.jpg https://i.ibb.co/yPVWBv0/IMG-20240308-163945.jpg The wires are exactly the same as the petrol one's in the origin...

Re: 1.6D Exhaust System
So, I added some heat and did a couple of bends using this spare silencer today, and now the downpipe fits. Everything lines up, so fingers crossed the downpipe holds up ok. https://i.ibb.co/CJQ1Zjh/IMG-20240307-152106.jpg https://i.ibb.co/q1LsP5K/IMG-20240307-152054.jpg https://i.ibb.co/8sLGghR/IMG...

Re: 1.6D Exhaust System
Cheers Oldie, I believe you used the 1Y manifold. My engine didn't have the manifold when I got it, so I went with the original system. I've been told by a few people it will be adequate enough. I suppose I could order something from eBay, but the original 1.6 downpipe is so close to fitting. I'm ho...

1.6D Exhaust System
So I have a 1.9D engine running with a 1.6D exhaust system. I've been running my exhaust without all the mounts attached as I couldn't get everything to line up. I had a couple of hours to try and get the exhaust to fit again today. I managed to get the silencer to fit and line up nicely, but this i...
