Re: 3.9kg Propane Bottle Shortage

I got rid of our 907 campingaz cylinder in favor of one of the Gaslow refillable cylinders of the same size. It now costs about £3 to fill rather than £40 odd.

Re: Fibre glass repair kits

Back when I use to do a bit of composites (15 odd years ago) we used the tissue as the layer next to the gel coat then the chopped strand mat on top of that. Tissue was very light something like 30 or 50 gsm where as the chopped strand mat was anything up to about 450 gsm. The key to making it stron...

Re: Jump start device

I've got the GYS power pro 700. Absolutely fantastic bit of kit. It'll even start large tractors with 0v in the battery. The only thing they're not so good for is cranking for a while to diagnose a non start.

Re: Any metal fabricators in here…

I made one for a friend with 6mm plate a think it was. I ended up cutting the plate part way through, bent it along the cut then welded it. That was several years ago and it's still going strong. Might be another option for you as it'll probably be easier to find a welder than someone who can bent t...

Re: Hiring a workshop?

Quite a few years ago there was a fully equipped workshop in Bridgwater that people could rent per hour or day. I remember them advertising it at the automotive college. I wonder if there might be something similar in your area.  Something similar to this in Cumbria http://www.rentarampcumbrialtd.co...

Re: Condensation - dealing with it.

makes taking off the windows super easy. Does it take off behind the bulkhead and inside the tailgate and other nooks and crannies? In my opinion prevention is the answer. Regards, Max. No obviously not, it's a window vac to vacuum any condensation off the windows. I agree that prevention it better...

Re: Condensation - dealing with it.

We were out camping last weekend in Wales and our friend with a Syncro had a Karcher window vacuum. It obviously doesn't stop condensation but makes taking it off the windows super easy. We will defiantly be investing in one.

Re: K&N air filters?

This is quite an interesting video regarding air filters including K&N

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJ3L-E- ... rojectFarm

I wouldn't put a K&N on my vehicle due to the lack of filtration. Air filters are cheaper than engine rebuilds.

Maybe speak to your local garage they'll be able to put it in with their waste oil which will go off to be recycled anyway.

Re: Identifying age of tyres

From your link Clif it says:

"The three-digit code wasn't precise in terms of decades. For that reason, in 2000 the fourth digit was added and since then, the last two digits represent the year of manufacture."

So that would make the tyre 1999 vintage

Re: Identifying age of tyres

Hi James

From what I remember if it's a 3 digit code it would be the week followed by the last digit of the year. In your case I think it's the 14th week of either 2019 or 2009.

Cheers

Re: AAZ pump on a TDI engine???

Yes we are running a Landrover 300 TDI pump on our 1.9 AHU TDI engine. I sent the van into a fuel injection specialist last year to recondition the pump and injectors as the van didn't seem to have much pulling power and didn't run well. The chap who done the work explained that the engine and injec...

I needed one of these when I fitted my water tank, I found that a Plasson water fitting has the same thread so used one of those with a Plasson bung and a dowty washer.
