So rebuilt my 34dat with a service kit but now cannot get my van to run at all. Seems to be flooding but float needle isn't sticking and float has been set to specified height.

Really struggling here! Anyone in devon (okehampton area) that might be able help?

Spot on ta for that, after some research it appears it doesn't essentially need that wired up plus i don't have the same level of wiring you seem to have. The joys of someone else tinkering with everything before it bcomes your issue ha. So ive managed to find an air leak coming through the air filt...

Yea i have checked that and seems to hold pressure ok. Also i notice that the solenoid on the front of your carb (which i guess is a fuel cut off solenoid?) has a wire connected, on mine that has never been connected to anything and the actual wire has been cut off right at the solenoid. When you say vacuum advance hose which one are you talking about exactly? I guess you mean the hose running from the distributor...right?

Plus it just helps discussing and going through options with another person as i had pretty much melted my brain trying to figure this all out.

Ok so cant quite do that as the vacuum is kind of built in the carb so the only way i can do it is to adjust the screw on the diaphragm to set how far open it comes so will try a few different settings and see what differences occur

Ok so the there is a difference in the choke system as mine is not electrical but operated by the coolant heating up a bi-metallic spring as the engine heats up. Before that bi-metallic spring heats up the carb uses vacuum to operate the choke flap as it takes a little while for the coolant to warm ...

Ha sorry so it will start first try and run nicely for 5-10seconds then will stall on its own accord but if i try and use any throttle to keep it running during this period it will stall immediately. I have taken the carb apart and checked the jets but didnt have a service kit to fit after so air leak could be potential but was already stalling before i stripped the carb, although i guess the base gasket might be the issue..... Will double check the jets again just to be sure. Timing.....i mean ...

So it measures 99mm....is that enough wear to give issues?
Also once its starts if i touch the throttle it will stall immediately

No i have never changed the pushrod. Ive just fully rebuilt the engine from inside out but i had this issue before i took the engine out after the van had been sat on my driveway for 6months without being used....

Might be tempted but don't understand why it now won't run...
Like i said it used to run plus it sounds and runs real smooth for the 10seconds it stays running, just eventually stalls?
