Re: Portable Solar Panel thoughts…

We use this kit from Titan Energy. Really robust and folds up nice and tidy. Keeps the battery charged up with the Waeco fridge running and lights etc. Would 100% recommend. https://www.titan-energy.co.uk/sale-new-100w-folding-flexible-solar-panel-kits-223-p.asp Cheers Sent from my SM-G975F using Ta...

Re: What year Subaru to go for?

I went from a 2.1DJ to a Subaru EJ2.5 and the difference is totally 100% worth it. I'm not sure its as 'cheap' as you think it may be but our Bus is a keeper and I'm 100% pleased with all we've done with all the help we've had with some top chaps along the way [emoji1360] Not cheap to do it properly...

Re: What year Subaru to go for?

Evening
If you went the EJ2.5 route you can go to a 253 engine mark.
I've got a full list of conversion parts you'd need if it helps.
Cheers

Re: Source of inner "SA" style headlights/spots

The speed tape is aerospace grade, its used to seal down instrumentation cabling inside of the engine undercowels and good for surprisingly high temps.
I used clear Sikaflex to bond the lenses back on, touch wood zero issues after a year.

Re: Source of inner "SA" style headlights/spots

I had the same issue with badly coroded inner lamps on my SA grill. Looked at the Golf option but the fixing tabs are in the wrong place as the Docmeister found. Tried getting a pair from SA with no luck so decided to make the best of what I had and have a go at relining them. I used a very high qua...

If it helps in any way here's a photo of the Subaru ej2.5 paired with the Autobox with the rjes adaptor plate.

Re: Auto Gearbox Engine Conversion

Afternoon As Mocki says, we've got the original 3 speed Auto paired to a new EJ2.5 Subaru engine with the rjes adaptor plate and in my experience I can honestly say dont worry about kick down....... you wont need it or indeed use it. There's a huge amount of torque in 3rd gear which pulls from ~40 t...

Re: Solar panels

We've got the 100w folding solar panel kit from Titan Energy which is great.
Keeps the leisure battery topped up even with the Waeco fridge running.
Worth a look I'd say.

Re: Hooking up a portable solar panel

Afternoon
The IP rated solar connections used for domestic and leisure systems are MC4 Connectors. Fleabay has plenty listed.
Battery end I've used a 50v Anderson connector.

Re: Subaru Surgery

Looks really encouraging, the only bits I couldn't get in the UK at the time for my ej2.5 conversion we're the short sump (maintaining the right oil capacity) and exhaust. I was lucky to be able to get both from the USA from Smallcar. If they're now available from this guy in the UK then that saves ...

Yes, shouldn't be a problem, just need a bit of wriggle room under the van.

Re: Topic: Slipping Auto

Evening As Mocki said Simon (toomanytoys) put together an oil cooler kit for my van. With the extra work the Subaru conversion puts on the Autobox it seemed sensible to replace the original gearbox oil cooler. Couple of photos if it helps, there is also a protective grill fitted but not shown in the...
