CV Joints
I just know I should have found it somewhere, but I've been searching and haven't, so my apologies in advance, but is there a guide anywhere for repairing/replacing the CV joints?

Re: Fuel Pump & Pushrod
The fuel pump arrived from JK today and the inlet pipe is a much bigger diameter than the outlet or the previous pump. I've got some larger diameter fuel hose that'll fit it, but then I've either got to connect that to the old hose or the rigid plastic pipe that enters the engine bay. Why can't life...

Fuel Pump & Pushrod
Afternoon. :D Fuel pump appears to have died on my 1986 1.9 DG, so going to replace it and thought I might as well replace the pushrod at the same time. VW Heritage are out of stock of the pump. JK have them in stock http://www.justkampers.com/shop/fuel-pump-j10391.html" onclick="window.op...

Re: Loud knocking sound
No loose rockers.
I've pinpointed the noise as coming from the area of number 1 cylinder. What could that be then?

Re: Loud knocking sound
Clearly the noise didn't come through on the video. It did start off as a tappety sound, but turned in to a much louder and more vicious noise a day later (after a 30 mile run).jason k wrote:take it for a ten mile run, it will go.

Re: Loud knocking sound
Before I took the vid, I changed the oil. I took the right hand side rocker cover off (cos it definitely sounds like it's coming from that area) and there was oil in there. It hasn't been low on oil. It does burn oil, when first started oily smoke comes out of exhaust, and so I have to top up a smal...

Re: Loud knocking sound
I took a video of it. The sound is coming from the right hand side of the engine as you look at it from the rear.

It sounds much more metallic than it came out on the vid.
Any ideas?

Re: Loud knocking sound
Hi Ian
Thanks for the reply, but no I already checked that. It's definitely coming from the actual engine.
E D I T: I've just realised it started a few days ago, but I thought it was just the tappets doing that ... errr... tappetty thing.

Loud knocking sound..E D I T.. IT BLEW THE F*** UP!!!
Hi all I have a 1.9DG, which today has developed a very loud knocking sound from the engine, which increases with revs. I haven't changed anything or done any work on it recently, except for replace the exhaust a couple of weeks ago. Any ideas what it might be? Do I need to make another trip to Elit...

Re: What are these?
I found the Haynes manual (not a great help) and there appears to be something between elbow and manifold pipe that resembles one of these. Haynes refer to it as a seal. I'll have a look when I take it apart and see if it could go there. Still don't know why there's 2 of them though. Ccok rings ? :s...
