Hello I am tidying up my Komet for sale and the fabric roof liner around the cooker is a bit iffy.
Anybody recommend a good cleaner that won't take the colour out or rot the paint!
Thanks
David

Heater Motor Replacement
The heater motor has failed and I wondered if anyone has replaced this item. It seems to be buried under the dash assembly. How easy is it to get at?
How long should I allow. I am not a mechanic but reasonably adept with tools etc.
Thanks

Re: electrolux 3way shelving
Thanks a bundle Greg, ideal. I'm always gratified to see the way the 80/90 gang help one another. Maybe one day I can return the favor. Meantime charity donation made

electrolux 3way shelving
Can anyone advise if replacement shelving is available for the fridge in our Komet. It's plastic coated grid type and the plastic is cracking and peeling, looks tatty! not to mention probably un-hygenic.
Thanks

INT FAULT
Don't know if you've sorted this problem yet, I've only just spotted the post.
Similar problems on my 1990 T25 turned out to be a rotten HT feed cable connection inside the distributor cap. Ability to deliver HT current variable.
Cheers

I put it down to the low average speed Josh. I'm horrified at some of the figures some guys are quoting. I can only assume they are constantly up and down the gears foot on the floor like a Golf GT  When I first got the van in 95 I drove it like I drove the firms estate car and was only getting...

Can't argue Josh. I guess the average was around 50mph. The first section to Penrith was mainly dual then motorway for the rest of the trip. There were no traffic problems, lorry convoys, roadworks etc so my guess is probably pretty accurate. As I said in an earlier post I drive sympatheticaly to th...

Hi all, I've come back with the figures for my trip producing 34 mpg. Keswick, brim full, 93,446. Sedgemoor Services, brim full, 40.6 Litres 93,755. 309 miles 40.6 litres. unless your ltr/gallon conversion is different to mine that's 34+ mpg. Speedo checked against GPS over a long period reads 2-3 m...

I'll come clean JOSHB, Brim full tank at Keswick on a Sunday 6am down the M6/M5 at a constant 50/56 mph, 1 pee stop, then a fill to the brim at Sedgemoor on the M5. I did the sums and it came out at 34.4mpg. I passed TWO vehicles, a horse-box and a flat cap out for a Sunday drive!.Otherwise the whol...

Hi all, I have been reading this thread with great interest as I am seriously considering an LPG conversion. I have a 1990 Autohomes Komet HiTop with a 1900 cc petrol engine and with sympathetic driving get between 26, local, and 34mpg, steady motorway cruising(56mph). I see references to the "...

Hi folks, I have a '90 T25 Komet Hi Top with signs of rust in several seams. I have rubbed down, sealed and resprayed the affected area but after a year it is showing up again. Can anyone suggest a good VW van specialist in the South, Southwest or South Midlands where I could take it to discuss what...

Hi all, I will be laying up the trusty Komet at the end of the month and have never paid it special attention but its time to treat it with a little care, We are both getting older! I have been told treating the brake discs to prevent rust is a good start. What is the recomended treatement? and any ...
