Thankyou for your comments, previously in the thread i stated that i disconnected the inlet pipe from the turbo so air was being pulled in via the manifold by passing the air filter and associated pipework.

Morning all here we go, i took the turbo off then blanked the hole, blanked the oil feed and drain, then converted the air supply straight from the filter, again starts on the button. The turbo did have oil in it but the exhaust side was just black as you would expect. So i drove around the block (...

Thanks for all the comments, to be quite honest i have always thought of oil mixing with the air from the Turbo into the combustion process which would create the smoke. However i didn't think the oil could go the other way into the exhaust this would explain why it burns on load and on tick over a...

Thanks for your reply I have run the engine with the turbo pipe disconnected to the inlet manifold still smokes under load. would the fuel pump create white/grey smoke under load ??? Could it be blow by putting crankcase under pressure then forcing oil into the cylinders???? I have changed the head ...

Ok found some broken inner and outer springs, what make the springs break?

Great thanks for you help, the springs that are in the head are inner and outer, its the outer springs that have broke, should i change all springs?

Well i finally found the problem with my 1986 westfalia t25 jx camper, which had a rough idle and smoked under load, after removing the head i found two broken valve springs one inlet and one exhaust, i converted the head to a JR part number 068103373T. Oil level is in between marks on stick, still have the original container with about 1/2 litre in. Took my T25 JX round the block this morning to test as i have blue/white smoke coming from the exhaust, the engine starts first time and sits there ticking over with no smoke. OK checked the Banjos tonight all OK, one thing i did notice is that i am getting a lot of air in the return pipe going back to tank, input is totally clear is this normal or could this be the problem?

if i clamp the pipe then undo the banjo will air be drawn into the pump???
