Re: Square lights.

Many thanks for advice, but unfortunately adding the extra earth as you suggested had no effect.
Still in the dark literally and metaphorically !!

Re: Square lights.

Thank you both for that. The earth wiring to the bulb at the connector is showing good continuity so I don`t think its an earth issue?? Could the ignition switch be the source as read on various posts? Again, low beam fine but ALL lights fail when switching to high beam on the offside lights and the...

Square lights.

Hope someone can help me out (again), I have square headlights playing up! When I switch to main beam the rhs inner lamp doesn’t come on and the outer goes out completely. I have checked the bulbs, the fuses and cleaned up the earth terminal behind the fuses. I don’t seem to be getting any power to ...

Sticking in gear

My 5 speed box is developing a problem when selecting gear, especially when my girlfriend got stuck in 2nd on a dual carriageway! It’s intermittent but without any warning the gears will stick in reverse or 2nd and are very reluctant to change. Has anyone out there got any words of wisdom before I s...

Snapped alternator bolts

Been having starting troubles so bought new starter motor, fitted it and it just ‘clicks’. The old one was definitely shot as it won’t turn over when I hook it up to a battery. Started poking around to look for reasons why only to find both studs holding the alternator bracket have snapped off. Anyo...

Re: Multivan panels

Hi Multisi, Yes, it`s a twin slider and that`s the cause of the issues I`m facing. Apologies if my post didn`t make that clear and thanks for taking the time to reply. The seat brackets you sold me last year work a treat by the way, thanks for that! As I said, a bit of research and `asking around` s...

Multivan panels

Anyone ever fitted a multivan interior ( from a lhd vehicle) into a rhd? Any tips on fitting the panel containing the table to the sliding door much appreciated. Main issues I can see so far are, where and how to fit the opening handle (maybe slide the panel back to clear it?), how and whereabouts t...

Re: Pierburg advice PLEASE!

It has taken a while (the weather hasn`t helped!) but the carb has finally arrived along with an extensive list of work which identified many problems. In fact on reading the list and seeing that an initial engine test was pointless, I feared the worst and thought it was junk! However, it arrived, w...

Mercedes steel wheels

Sorry to put this out there again! Over time I seem to be collecting replacement Merc steelies for the bus. Fitted two 16" wheels from the W210 model Merc on the rear no problem (with the new nuts from Brickwerks). Haven`t had time to offer up the wheels to the front yet and I`ve read the wiki ...

Re: Pierburg advice PLEASE!

Hello again Itchy (and other members reading this post), been out and looked at the carb only to find that the accelerator pump isn`t squirting fuel through. I`ll try and investigate a little further tonight but just a quick thanks meantime.

Re: Pierburg advice PLEASE!

Timing issues not fully resolved, hence the Bromyard avenue. I thought that at least this would give me peace of mind as the engine is newly built but I can`t rule out that the carb hasn`t been serviced in 30 yrs. I also thought it would give me a good starting point to resolve the timing problems I...

Pierburg advice PLEASE!

Got the carb booked in with Bromyard next month but I`m dependant on the van as my daily driver. The van will start great from cold but as soon as she warms up the problems begin. It intermittently cuts out, coughs and hesitates on acceleration. It seems to run better when the second venture opens w...

considering buying a set of merc alloys. They are 16" from an S Class model.
Can anyone advise if they are a straight fit or will I need spacers? Also, wondered about bolts???
Looked in the Wiki but can`t seem to find the information I need.
Thanks to anyone who can help

Are all cranshaft pulleys the same?

Been musing over my timing issues as per previous post. Replaced my 1.9 dg with a 2.1 bottoms end (dj) fitted with mv barrels and pistons. Retrofitted all dg components, carb etc including the dg crankshaft pulley which has the two marks for timing which I'm unable to line up without the engine dyin...

Re: Timing woes!

We'll, stronger things have happened! I'm using number 1. Interesting that your motor is timed at 10 degrees, everything I've read says to time at 5 with this engine and carb combination? Thanks for the info though.
