Re: Front suspension torquing up.

Thanks shepster. I'm also using poly bushes. At what point did they pop off the arb? While sill on axel stands, or when you were driving ?

Front suspension torquing up.

I have replaced most of the bushes on my front suspension plus all associated nuts and bolts,  and have now put everything back together finger tight. I'm wondering if there is a particular sequence I should torque everything back up, and whether anything should be left until it's back with it's whe...

Re: Anti rollbar upgrade

Thanks for the replies. I didn't realise I had a 21mm bar, thought it would be 19, so probably not worth the cost of upgrade to 23mm. However, it failed the mot on anti roll bar bushes, with advisories on drop link bushes. Also failed on steering fouling suspension. The drop link on one side touches...

Anti rollbar upgrade

I have to replace the anti rollbar D bushes on my 1983 2.0l air-cooled Devon. I'm wondering if it's worth me upgrading to a 23mm one while I'm at it. I was looking at the brickworks eibach one. It's quite expensive, but the van is a keeper, so if it's worth it I might go for it. Will I notice improv...

Re: 1983 2.0L Aircooled Dual Carb hose layout

Thanks Rosie n Jim for the offer, but the volkszone picture answers most of my questions. Mine all seems to be connected up ok. The only remainig query I have is over the thick connection on the back of the airbox. Should that connect anywhere or be blanked off ?

1983 2.0L Aircooled Dual Carb hose layout

I've been searching for a diagram showing where all the hoses, especially the vacuum hoses, are supposed to connect to/from on my 2.0L dual pdsit engine, but without success. I've got the itinerant Aircooled diagrams from here https://itinerant-air-cooled.com/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=7767 (although ...

Re: Carb balance issue

Thank you all for the replies. My wife is away in the van at the moment. Seems obvious now I've been told, that the balance at revs is more important and should be done first. I will be following the video and/or instructions once the van is back and I have a spare hour or two. Regarding the itinera...

Re: top wishbone mounts

I had newly fitted mounts start squeaking within not too many miles. Eventually I replaced those with these from the USA https://gowesty.com/products/gowesty-up ... g-full-set
They are pricey, but should last a long time. Don't have to weld them either.

Carb balance issue

I have a 2.0l air-cooled with twin Solex carbs. I just replaced some iffy hoses, including on the balance pipe and thought I'd check carb balance at the same time. I got them reading the same at idle (around 10 on my meter), but if I check again when revving a bit, the left reads a lot higher, but t...

Re: Fuel tank return pipe.

My mistake, I think it's got a single Weber carb conversion. How does that affect the fuel return hose and crank case breather ? In this case the fuel return is blanked off and the crank case breather just has an open pipe going down behind the tinware. Is that how it should be ?

Fuel tank return pipe.

I am replacing the fuel tank breathers etc on a friends 1980 2.0l air cooled van. It has a hose connected to the tank nearside inlet becoming from the engine compartment but once in the engine bay it just has a screw plugging the end. They have what looks like a single pieberg carb. Should hlthe hos...

Accelerator conduit routing

I did a stupid thing. Whilst replacing my fuel tank I decided to replace my worn accelerator cable and guide tube but didn't make a note or take photos of how the old conduit was routed.  It's a 1983 2.0L Aircooled with twin solex.  Having refitted everything, the accelerator cable is a few inches t...

Carb flaps

I'm setting up the chokes on my 83 2.0L air cooled with standard carbs having just replaced a faulty electric carb actuator.  Both sides the carb flap moves to vertical within a minute or two as expected, but when switched off and left to cool, one flap returns to closed, whilst the other stays open...

Ok. Thanks. I'll make sure I have it rebuilt with the same connector type. Cheers
