Re: Oil Leak (Was small, now isn't) - Update
Finally the end is in sight. Just the alternator, exhausts and associated air pipe gubbins to go back on and hoping to make Run To The Hun on Sunday. I think I found the reason that the oil cooler pipe had worn away until it split. The bolts connecting the engine mount bracket to the crankcase were ...

Re: Cooling fan wont come off
I finally got the tinware off which allowed me to move the fan housing enough to get at the engine mounting bolts. I got access to the screw identified by bigherb, by removing the bumper, then a very long screwdriver though lower holes in rear valance and applying a lot of pressure to avoid strippin...

Re: Cooling fan wont come off
Thanks Bigherb, Yep, that does indeed seem to be the one, and there might be one round the corner from that, but not sure what that's holding on. Unfortunately with the rear offside tinware in place, you can't get sufficient access to it with impact driver or drill. From above, I can get a screwdriv...

Re: Cooling fan wont come off
OK. So I got the cooling fan off. I managed to get a 3 leg puller on the outer rim and pushing on the centre hub bolt. Problem now is I cannot get the fan housing off enough to get access to all the engine mount bolts. I can probably access 2 or 3 out of the 4 bolts, but definitely not the 4th. It s...

Cooling fan wont come off
Trying to remove the cooling fan so I can then remove the housing to get to the engine mount bolts. I have undone the three bolts on the fan itself but cant withdraw the fan (as usual, haynes makes it sound that simple). It doesn't even look like it will fit through the hole on the housing, but I gu...

Engine mount removal
I need to replace the engine mounts on my 1983 2.0 Air cooled CU engine. From this diagram, I know I need to undo the nuts/bolts marked 2 + 4 to release the mounting bar from the van, but to release it from the engine, do I - Undo nuts marked 14, leaving the engine bracket on the engine, or - Undo b...

Re: Oil Leak (Was small, now isn't)
So, would the procedure for removing engine mounts be:
- Jack up, support the van.
- Support the engine.
- Remove the exhaust
- Remove the fan housing.
- Remove engine support bar with mountings from engine and van.

Re: Oil Leak (Was small, now isn't)
Only trouble is, looks like the oil filler pipe is not available anywhere.
Can't find one new or 2nd hand.
Looks like the one for the CU engine is different from the others and no longer available.
Can't find a 2nd hand one either.
I don't suppose anyone knows where I might find one ?

Re: Oil Leak (Was small, now isn't)
Oh dear. Engine mounts sounds like an engine out job, or can it be done in situ ? Thanks.

Re: Oil Leak (Was small, now isn't)
Thanks again for that. That's great info. I got under and gave it a cleanup and debunk, and I seem to have found the general location of the leak (at least the main leak). See attached photos. It seems to be running from the oil filler tube onto the support/crossmember thingy. Looking closely at the...

Re: Oil Leak (Was small, now isn't)
Many thanks for all the replies. Just going to summarise the possibilities so far in case I've misunderstood * Oil Pump area * Front crank oil seal * Oil pressure switch (Near oil filter or near oil cooler ?) * Oil filter * Oil cooler * Mechanical fuel pump From what I gather from the replies, these...
