Re: white smoke
New head gasket on & all torqued up .couldn't really see any damage to the old gasket . anyway, fired it up & all looks well,NO white smoke now ,, infact it looks like there is less carp coming out of the exhaust than before too... just pleased the head wasn't cracked.

Re: headder tank cap (dalek cap)
You should be able to blow through the spout, but there will be some resistance and you have to blow quite hard. It might make the characteristic 'quacking' sound. Some will tell you that you shouldn't be able to suck through the spout, but in fact it only seals properly when it's screwed down onto...

headder tank cap (dalek cap)
should you be able to suck/blow both ways through the spout on the cap ? i can suck through the spout but not blow....so the expanded water goes into the overflow tank but doesn't get sucked back into the header tank(by the way its a brand new cap from brickworks with vw/audi logo on)

Re: 1.6 Diesel Water Pump Belt Change.
When I changed my belts I found it easier to lie underneath , the bolts in the pulley aren't too tight so just stuck a glove on my hand & held pulley tight, and yes , the water pump pulley is shimmed ,hopefully you'll have enough shims,

Re: How to remove a rounded off brake calliper bleed nipple
Heat the calliper around the bleed nipple, get it as hot as you can, it will take a while I usually heat it for about 5-10 mins with a decent blow torch, when its as hot as you can get it rapidly cool the bleed nipple, I use a soaking wet rag but you can use freeze spray , unless someone has stretc...

Re: Autosleeper Conversion - Bridging the window gap
sorry don't have any pics of it finished but it does make a nice neat job when the carpet is glued over the top.. the foam comes in 1m lengths so you'll need to use 3-4 pieces to go around each window.

Re: Autosleeper Conversion - Bridging the window gap
Hi, I recently re-trimmed my interior & had a gap like you do.. I used the foam pipe lagging( for 1/2" or 3/4" copper pipe) cut or trimmed it then glued into place..stretch carped covers it great & makes a nice neat finish,

Have you changed the gearbox oil recently? maybe an oil change would do some good ,,, & clean the filter if there's a one fitted.

HI, I recently fitted a propex heater into my van,, runs off the gas bottle & 12v system. they're a little bit noisey(as you can hear the fan) but lovely & warm.
