Many thanks for the responses, I think it's safe to say that I'll be walking away from this one. The van is in a weird place, it's had a lot of rot cut out with new metal let in and looks to be generally solid. It's even had a (respray in that last 12 months. It's just a shame they didn't fix the fi...

Wow that looks pretty rusty. If it's rusty there, I'd be more worried about the condition of the rest of it. Would it have had an engine fire at some point? Thanks for the reply, not sure about a fire, the interior (roof lining, door cards etc.) look original so I doubt it would have. It's a puzzle...

Repair panel availability for engine compartment?

Hello, I've been offered a T25 (would be my first T25, but not my first rusty VW) for a fairly good price, but having a poke around the engine compartment shows a fair amount of corrosion to the rear firewall. Is there a repair panel available for this area? Google is not giving me any useful result...
