Re: So this happened on Friday evening
As someone who just had to buy a new engine*, can I give a bit of advice?! If you are making any changes to the cam shaft, and need to undo the cam shaft bolt please get a new one. It only costs £4-5 and will save you a lot of heartache. If the tension isn't right or the bolt has been reused it may ...

Re: 1.6 Turbo Diesel Exhaust silencer. Catalytic Converter?
I had a particle filter (cat) fitted to my jx many years ago, it actually didn't improve things much emission wise, it reduce my tax from 1500 yoyos down to 400. It still only got a red sticker fit the German pollution zones. Did you have it custom built? Or can you take one from a later model?

Re: 1.6 Turbo Diesel Exhaust silencer. Catalytic Converter?
I used one of those, they are usually imported from Germany, for my old 1.6, was on there for years before I upgraded the engine. It was still in good nick when removed. If your silencer has cracked I would check that your mounting rubbers are still intact. I'll check the mountings as well. Thank y...

1.6 Turbo Diesel Exhaust silencer. Catalytic Converter?
The silencer of of my 1985 t25 has cracked where it joins the rest of the exhaust and there’s a lot of rattling going on at the break. A few questions really. Is it worth welding this back together or do silencers wear out anyway? A new one costs about £80 plus. Will a new one be quieter than a repa...

Re: Hot Start Issues for T25 1.6TD
I think for ease I'm going to replace a like with like engine. It's quicker and cheaper and I've just spent £800 having the fuel injector restored so not getting rid of that. The crankshaft needed to a new bolt as the crankshaft seals were replaced. But yes, it seems everyone knew apart from my gara...

Re: Hot Start Issues for T25 1.6TD
Apologies for the radio silence, At first I thought I was getting notifications when people replied but apparently not and thought no-one had any ideas. Then last weekend we took the van out for another test run after the garage swore blind it was fixed. Just about a mile from the end of the M3 moto...

Hot Start Issues for T25 1.6TD
Hi everyone, I hope you don't mind me picking your brains. I have a T25 Turbo Diesel 1.6l Last year we had a few issues, to say the least. The main problem is that it won't start when the engine is hot and we were losing oil all the time. I had to top up the engine every journey. This all started la...
