Re: 1.9DG to 2.1DJ engine swap

I have gone off the idea after looking for parts availability online. No camshafts available, no std pistons and liners to be seen, etc, etc.

Re: 1.9DG to 2.1DJ engine swap

Yes I just had a look. I think both are 94mm bore but the 2.1 has a longer stroke. VW parts catalogue shows same pistons and liners for both but a different crankshaft part number.

Probably safer to keep my existong 1.9 completer as there is nothing wrong with it and find a 2.1 to play with!!

Re: 1.9DG to 2.1DJ engine swap

I'm happy to do a full rebuild. The last engine I did was a Porsche 911sc 3 litre lump and frankly they are riddled with bad design details and early failure points making rebuilds interesting! Really I am after a project. I will probably spend a year over it so a full strip to Component level would...

Re: 1.9DG to 2.1DJ engine swap

So realistically what is a 2.1 DJ with 150k miles an apparenty was seen running and in need of a full rebuild really worth?

Re: 1.9DG to 2.1DJ engine swap

So If I just keep the carb DG setup, is the power and torque increase still worthwile? There is nothing wrong with my 1.9 DG So to bother I would want to notice an improvement !

1.9DG to 2.1DJ engine swap

I appreciate that the 1.9DG and 2.1DJ engines are different in terms of one being carbs and one fuel injection, different airboxes, air flow meters, ECU etc, but in principle if I wanted to swap engines are they fundamentally the same unit?

Re: 1986 Holdsworth ceiling and internal wall carpet dilemma

To upload images, just click on the black square with an "i" in it.  It is a T25 Devon Eurovette High top. I was restoring my van when I did it and so had the luxury of a stripped interior, but the four way stretch carpet is amazing stuff and a ggod job could be achieved without taking it ...

Re: 1986 Holdsworth ceiling and internal wall carpet dilemma

Do you have any photos showing what it is like? I recovered the entire inside of my van walls and ceiling, with the four way stretch carpet and used spray adhesive. It is really easy to do and the result is brilliant!!Image

Re: Rear bearings, housing and stub axel issue - question

My van has had an advisory of play in rear wheel bearings every year since 2006! I have spoken to the MOT tester but he said that if they feel play then they are obliged to mention it as they cannot be expected to know what style of bearings are in all cars, which I thought was a fair point!! So I j...

Re: More Fuel Pipe Issues.

The reason I can't name names is simply because I have a big bag full of hose of all sizes that I use. It has not all come from a single supplier but I always chose who I buy from carefully in the hope that I get quality parts. As the split length is so short, I would have used an offcut from that b...

Re: More Fuel Pipe Issues.

Interesting responses for sure. I won't reveal my supplier online but let's just say they are very a well known one to a lot of us i expect. I imagine Gates hose is proper stuff as they make it themselves as far as I know but for hose from anywhere else where citroen is bought in, I will remain caut...

More Fuel Pipe Issues.

I just gave my van an annual check today and found this fuel pipe cracked. It's the pump to carb pipe on a 1.9DG. The pipe is only a year old, from a reputable source and R9 so E10 compatible. But it is still degrading fast. The other pipes are fine so i suspect this is a faulty batch but it is some...

Rear Wheel Bearing Type

For the last ten years my T25 has had an advisory of slight play in rear wheel bearings. It has never failed but it would be nice to sort it out if it is easy. I see the inner bearing is a ball race but the outer is only ever referred to as a roller bearing. Simple question! Is it a taper roller bea...

These guys look good but I haven't tied them. I did call and they said their covers can either be used as replacements or fitted over the existing ones. Look at their webpage.

Re: Wiring diagram for adding a wiper relay on early type 25

On my '87 van I just removed the white plug from the arm on the steering column and fitted the correct relay to the fusebox in the glove box. No wiring was needed as it was all there. Is '87 no an early van?
