Re: What’s best to bond wood to fibreglass?
I had the same issue and used ‘sticks like sh*t’. Still good a year later

Re: Stuck carb
Finally got to the bottom of it after doing what was suggested... around a fortnight ago I replaced the nylon bush in the throttle bar which removed quite a bit of play, removing this play had then ‘tweaked’ the linkage. As suggested removed the linkage, altered the bolts and all back to normal... [...

That’s the thing, it won’t adjust to idle, the left carb is ‘locked’ about 5mm from idle...davidoft1 wrote:Adjust the carbs to idle then adjust the linkage to fit , there’s only one adjustable one usually, but some have 2

Stuck carb
Before I go full Basil Fawlty and beat the van with a stick can anyone help please... My left hand carb is stuck and I can’t see why... on the right carb the throttle rod is adjustable via two nuts, on the left stuck one it’s a solid bar and I can’t see how it can be adjusted to close the gap. I mus...

Re: Float valve - solex 34 carb
What’s the problem you have , a leaking float valve won’t show a leak outside of the carb it will leak into the inlet manifold Morning, It’s a leak here from the throttle linkage: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210412/4aa97388f4c403b4a498e9e9cb492923.jpg My understanding (likely wrong) is that ...

Float valve - solex 34 carb
Evening Could anyone be kind enough to explain how to check / test the carb float valve is working? I’ve a leak, I think it’s the valve and want to get it sorted. I also need to understand that if it does need replacing what to replace it with. I understand the original part is no longer available.....

Re: Carb leak?
Giving this a bit of a bump... Further investigation of this leads me to believe this is caused by a worn float valve. It only leaks when the van isn’t running... I’ve recently fitted an electric pump and it seems this can happen as the pressure overwhelms the float valve. Does this seem likely and ...

Re: Carb leak?
On the carb body, just above the 13mm nut on the send photo, is a threaded hoLe. There should be a grub screw that secures the venturi. Both cars have them, sometimes they loosen. I'm very impressed with how clean they are, even after ultrasonic cleaning mine didn't shine that much! Thanks, I’ll ...

Re: Electric fuel pump wiring (Novice alert!)
But is now starting when the + is taken from the battery and not the coil? E D I T: and now I think I fudged the relay......thats enough bodging for one day :? I know when I did mine I read that there can be a voltage drop from the coil and you may have to take power from the alternator. Sent from ...

Re: Electric fuel pump wiring (Novice alert!)
Trouble starting the van with the electric pump on. Unplugged and poured a thimble of petrol in the carb and it starts okay. Even when I reattach the power to the pump it cuts out, its like the engine is getting too much fuel. Any thoughts guys, off a few days next week and was hoping to move it to...
More urgent however, it is missing the grub screw that holds the venturi in place.
Cheers, could you elaborate on that?

Carb leak?
Hello all Just wanted to know if anyone has any advice or has encountered this before... The left hand carb has a slight weep from a bolt https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210409/a6abd13424f4ff90d8626c52ec6797bd.jpg Is this as simple as replacing a gasket? Also getting a slight leak from here too, ...

Re: Robsey's Rusty Wreck.
And the roller is held in by a pin that needs to be knocked out and back in with a suitable sized pin-punch. Evening 😀 Can you elaborate on how you got this pin out? I spent an hour today and got nowhere. One end is steel and of a smaller diameter than the other nylon end. Logically I think I shoul...

Cheers, so I need to put an inline fuse as close to the coil as possible? If so I’ll repurpose my little fuse box...
