Re: So.. who was at coney!!!! (initial report)

That was a fun weekend! Geurney back was uneventful apart from a breaf monsoon (it probubly wasn't that heavy, it wasn't actully raining that hard inside the truck) on the M6 made more exciting when the wiper arm fell off - Luckally the washer jets are on the arms so the pipework stops it getting lo...

Re: Poll: What is the state of your VC ?

Just for the sake off intrest...i had one of my rear driveshafts off the other day and had to turn the van round...diff locks off and drove just like normal..with maybe a little bit of wobble/lean on setting off, diff lock on and a bit off scrabbling on the rear wheel with drive when turning but no...

Syncro 1, Land-Rover 0

To be honest tyres are what makes the difference here, if your tyres aren't winter tyres (icicle marking) or all weather rated (M+S - most all/mud terain tyres have this or are basicly as good tread wise, though not nesiserally compound wise) then 4WD will just get you better access to more ditches ...

Re: Highest mileage Syncro on this forum?

my white one .... well it doesnt run at all but the last time it moved it had the correct wheel/tyre combo So that'll be well out too then! Think I worked out mine (on the wrong speedo drive gearing) is about 13% over reading on the ODO (which is often quite a different error to the speedo!) but if...

Re: Alternative to CV grease

Coil sprung beam axled Land-Rovers use one shot grease in the front axle, where there is a CV joint but its sealed in the axle caseing, seperate to the diff oil or wheel bearings. Earlyer models had EP90 in the swivel housings but this was always seperate to the diff oil, if it wasn't the seals gone...

Re: Hahahaha... Look at my back wheel!!!

Nice how to!! Is that the van sitting on a hydraulic jack though? :tsk (From experience I can tell you a peugeot 106 drops "feck" quick when a seal goes in a trolly jack, makes you think twice how you get an axle stand under there safely let alone working on the jack!) I once had a GSF bea...

Re: T3 Syncro 1.9D engine

http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e224/Glen107/Ecomatic/DSC04840.jpg A bit hard to see in a van but easy to photo in a car, its just between the core plugs under the exhaust manifold, so if you reach around the flywheel end of the engine with a camera you should get a shot after a couple of gos. I'...

Re: Bet you cant do this ....

I've got it! Lock front and rear (or all 3) diffs but remove the nearside driveshafts. To think that they actually sat down and planned this  To be fair most people who drive cars (or lorries, see Russ Swift's @best truck on two wheels@ Leyland Roadrunner advert) on 2 wheels need to do some ...

I should be able to make this one, another first!

And unlike SP, this time I'm not misreading my calender and saying see you at SP and then realising afterwards it was the weekend I was driving back from the Piranees not the weekend after

Could be my last event under JX power

Re: ABS

Doesn't Otenger Dave have twin lockers and ABS? I think theres a buzzer fitted to them to remind you if the rear diffs locked when you go over 50km/h - who goes that fast with the locker in? When the rangerover first got ABS I think it only worked on one axle and turned off if you went into low rang...

Re: Temp and Pressure Gauges

Oil presure threads on a diesel is M10x1, common for VWs but not for much else. 1.6 engines tend to only have 1 tapping for a guage on the filter and another on the head, both are used for the dynamic oil presure sensors (usally low on head and high on filter though they are interchangable). There i...

Re: Wires id. (JX engine)

Any clues to where this loom is? Is it one of the engine bay harnesses that ends in one of them round plugs in the 'lunch box' with the glow relay in it? Brown with red trace sounds like its going to be heading to earth fairly soon, probubly via a switch, intereour lights(guess)? Yellow is usally so...
