It may just be that the child safety catch is engaged. This stops the door from being opened from the inside, by a child (or a drunk). Check for the little slider lever on the front inner edge of the door.

By the way, the holes in the door-card are already there but not cut through the vinyl. You may find they line up ok with the Golf ones.

The arm-rest screws fit into nylon retainers that are wedged into two holes in the door inner panel. If you remove the inner trim panel you will see these holes roughly in-line with the lower of the inner door handle screws.
I can't get at my van right now to give more accurate details.

As Skell says, the oil level only needs to be kept between the marks and not maintained at the upper mark. The upper mark is the max level, not the optimum level.

Ours used to open when hitting pot-holes etc. I tried lots of adjustments but eventually found that raising the lock post on the door pillar cured it.
It's been fine for nearly three years now.

I think the washer works indepenent of the wiper motor but works from the same relay via a green/white wire from E7 on the relay panel. The two wires from the motor, green/black on term 53 goes to E2 on the relay panel and the black/grey on term 53a goes to E8. Best route is probably as you suggest ...

Could be that the speedo cable is due for replacement or simply in need of some lube. I usually use 3inOne oil. Disconnect the cable from the back of the instrument and gently squirt a few drops inside the cable. It will find it's way down.
May also be that the cable has been disturbed and kinked.

Siezed fuel pump? You'd be lucky. Are you sure it's not a siezed engine?

A tyre supplier told me that mine were loose but I asked our local MOT station to check and he said they are designed to be "soft" to reduce impact. I replaced them anyway (too much free time, what the hell) and it made no difference.

This may be an extra handle fitted to the inner door ?? to help closing the door without slamming. I fitted one in both my Bays but not felt the need in the T3.

It would be best to start it occasionally and run it for twenty minutes or so. Run it for only a few minutes can cause other issues.
Give it a good half hour run at some decent revs and it should settle ok.
If it doesn't then you may need some mechanical help.

Basically, it's a design fault. Hydraulic tappets should be vertical to retain the oil in them. These engines lay horizontal so the oil is able to seep out. Having said that, certain other VW engine types, such as Golfs, have similar issues. As clartsonly says, the oil is usually forced back in afte...
