Urgent help needed.. 83 diesel van (so I assume originally non turbo CS) originally 4 speed, now has a 1Z Tdi with a petrol 5 speed gearbox (ASM, ASL, AST ?). The linkage, shifter box and lever are all the original 4 speed. Reverse is difficult to find, and my wife finds it almost impossible... she'...

If I have a 5 speed petrol box on a Diesel engine in a diesel van... Do I need diesel front linkage, shift box and lever, petrol rear linkage?
