Re: Build Project: Wilbur’s 2.1 DJ

Please check the thickness of the oilpumpgasket from the Victor Reinz set. In my set it was way too thick and gave me a headache to find where my low oil pressure came from. In the end I didn't use a gasket only a sealant. But there are people on this forum who can better inform you about this than ...

Re: Aftermarket ECU for 2.1 DJ

Hi, Okay you speak of lumpiness and before about running lean. As I'm Dutch hope I understood your English and problem correctly. I drive a 1.9 DH petrol injection and had a severe hesitation around 80km/h (50mph) and for me it was the AFM that was causing these symptoms. Your AFM has been checked d...

Re: Aftermarket ECU for 2.1 DJ

Did you also check the temperature sensor in the AFM? This one controls which fuel map is chosen in the ECU

Re: Testing VSS Speed Signal

It is a very a basic way to measure but it will give you an indication.

From what I remember from my install that I had to cut the wire loop at the MS50 to match the pulses coming from my sensors
and to set the sensitivity on the MS50.

Re: Solar panel recommendations

@bigbadbob76, you are absolutely right. You are a privileged man to live in such a beautiful spot.

I felt as trespasser with so many tourists on Skye.

Re: Solar panel recommendations

I use a standard flexible 100w panel with a MPPT charger. The panel is thin enough to store between the matras and poptop or in the back. The solarpanel is connect with an extention cord. I made a waterproof connection by the gas tank. This way I can put the panel where I like and in the sun keep th...

Re: Low oil temperature

For exact values measuring at the oil filter is perhaps not the best spot but that wasn't my intention. I place the gauges to monitor the engine and I choose a spot that seemed easy to install and I thought if I allways measure on the same spot I can compare the values. For almost 2 years I had the ...

Re: Low oil temperature

Yes I use a sandwich plate like that. And a smaller oil (Saab 900 -> Mann 712/80 ) filter as the original is to large because of the exhaust pipe.

The thermostat is about 4 years old replaced it when I put in a new waterpump.

Re: Low oil temperature

I use the values from the gauge not as a exact measurement but more to see if something changes. I don't think the sensor are on the most ideal spot. I've have a sandwich plate between the engine and oil filter. That is where I measure the pressure and temp. I fitted the gauge about 1.5 years ago an...

Re: Low oil temperature

For the oil temp and pressure I use a VDO gauge and beloning sensors. The engine doesn't have a oil cooler it is a 1.9 DH injection. We where driving in Scotland near Applecross the outside temp was arround 18 degrees. On our way back to the ferry in Newcastle we took the motorway, then the oil temp...

Low oil temperature

Hi All, I drive a T25 westfalia with a 1.9 DH it is imported from the USA so a Vanagon. I added an oil temp and pressure gauge to keep an eye on the engine and what I noticed during the last holiday is that when I drive slow 70/80 km/h the oil temperature drops to +/- 80 degrees celcius or lower. Be...
