Re: Reversed into bent over bollard seeking advice.
Thanks yeah I am considering the insurance increases. I'm not really expecting to share liability tbh. The van is insured for an agreed value of 14k (when it was in better condition). Excess is £250 with 9 years unprotected no claims. I'm half wondering if the hassle would be worth it to allow me t...

Re: Reversed into bent over bollard seeking advice.
Thanks for help so far - does anyone know what a garage/insurance would do regarding paintwork. So the panels etc seem easy to fix but then I'd have either just primed panels or a respray that wouldn't match the old colour. How does that work with the insurance? I'm guessing any bodyshop would sugge...

Re: Reversed into bent over bollard seeking advice.
Forget the insurance and just get all those rusty/bent panels cut off and replaced with new steel, Brickwerks do budget panel panels. Yeah I had it booked in for last May for the whole shebang but got let down, disappointed as it took long enough to justify it in my mind. My understanding is to do...

Re: Reversed into bent over bollard seeking advice.
I've got photos from the internet with the bent bollard so that's ok but not sure if it is bent enough. I think the LHD was the main thing but it was also bent the other way, towards me as I reversed. That rear panel is cracked horizontally below the bumper, could just be paint though. The bumper is...

Reversed into bent over bollard seeking advice.
Hi all - I've been trying to get bodywork sorted on my van. Panels bubbling up a bit and paint really faded. On trip back from Cornwall yesterday, in a BP garage I managed to reverse into a yellow bollard, the type that sit either side of a petrol pump. It was bent over from a previous collision so ...

Re: Knocking / clanging sound
Thanks, I'll check. It was completely fine on the way home.
I did wonder if if could have been something to do with brakes sticking, I deliberately braked hard just before parking up on the journey in.

Knocking / clanging sound
Drove the van to work today to give it a run out and charge the batteries a bit. Started to hear a knocking sound. Could describe it as more towards a clanging sound than a clunk, slightly higher note like exhaust metai clanging sound (but no exhaust blowing noise). Seemed to follow acceleration, it...

Re: Oil buzzer at end of long drive
Yeah I'm not in the habit of leaving it without oil but things have been a bit hectic, I knew I'd be changing oil and filter soon but kept putting it off. 3 trips in last 4 weeks. I was thinking about a pressure gauge this morning, I understand there's a blanked off spot on the housing? Also seen a ...

Re: Oil buzzer at end of long drive
Thanks chaps. Just checked her over. Could any of the following cause a false alarm 1. Oil was really really low. 2. Oil filter is long overdue a change 3. Is this is the high pressure sender? (see pics) It looks like black one. If so Spade terminal was only half seated and wires look about ready to...

Oil buzzer at end of long drive
Hi all, Drove back from Devon yesterday 255 miles. The buzzer went off pulling into the services, sharp left turn decelerating about half way back. Heard it but didn't realise what it was, thought it was on the radio or something. Then about 5 miles from home, decelerating onto a roundabout it went ...

Re: Where to route solar wireing for starter
Thanks Mocki - out of interest how did you fix the cables in the gutter? Do they flap about?
I might do as you suggest but route cables through bulkhead and mount controller where the Victron is located (old BBB spot) then back again to the starter.

Re: Where to route solar wireing for starter
Thanks both. So if I get into the vents I can feed into engine bay I guess is what your saying?. Stesaw are you suggesting drilling from inside into the vent/outside then run cable down through the vent? Rascal - If I drill the poptop it would be on the edge, outside of the tent but under the poptop...

Where to route solar wireing for starter
I've been toying with this project for a while so just an initial question for anyone who has added solar to charge the starter battery. Where did you route the wires to get into the engine bay? I have LHD drive westy and it looks like I have a factory fitted hole with a grommet top left corner as y...

Re: is BBB kaput / How do I fit a Victron
This might seem like a silly question but is it only visible within the Victron Bluetooth app when it's charging? I tried connecting but not whilst charging and couldn't see it. I guess it would always be 'listening' and drawing charge if on all the time was my assumption.

Fitted the Victron in the end. Fairly simple swap and works like a charm...
