Re: Does a 2.1 inj have different rear brake cylinders?

VW, GSF and numerous motor spares outfits. When returniong them they all say that they are a common unit, but why are mine different? when my garage guy spoke to VW commercials they seem to remember that the 2.1's might of had bigger units as they had the bigger lump and had to stop upto 8 people, b...

Does a 2.1 inj have different rear brake cylinders?

I've been trying to track down a rear brake cyclinder for a 1988 2.1 inj caravelle and the 4 that have been sent are too small. the ones which have been sent have a length of 46mm yet the old one is 56mm. They say that there is only one part listed for 1988 model, so could anyone shed any light on w...

My 2.1 mpi van has been stood for a number of months(slightly nose down with a small amount of fuel in the tank), i tried to fire up the van but it wouldn't fire up. It did turn over like it was trying too but no final kick in. Filled her up wwith 20litres or so of fuel, changed the dizzy, plugs and...

Re: Rear wash wipe

i had the exact same problem and it turned out to be the earth connector under the drivers seat next to the battery.

I removed the spade connector that attached to the body, cleaned the area underneath the spade, the spade itself and hey presto, good as new...

Re: Wheels

i struggled for ages trying to find a set of wheels that weren't kerbed or didn't have old tired tyres on them. It's not so much the PCD you'll struggle finding, it's getting the centres big enough that they'll go over the spigot in the centre of the wheel(this is what your wheels locate on for alig...

if you have a copy of Volksworld have a look for Cogbox's phone number. When mine was stuck in gear, the guy who answered the phone was really helpful and talked me through exactly what to look at and told me to ring him back after i'd looked at the gearbox to report back my findings. he didn't just...

first and foremost i replaced the clamps to both battery terminals as these were past their best and the live terminal was in two pieces(still clamped pretty well actually), replaced the terminal lug on the live wire that runs towards the back of the bus as this was being held by 6-7strands. Then to...

if your gear box is the same as mine there is a brk't with three holes, one for the linkage and 2 to connect to the gearbox, I sheared one of the bolts, which allowed the brk't and linkage to rotate around which eventually lead to me not being able to get it out of 1st (well not without the help of ...

my temp gauge stopped working and it turned out that the wires from the back sensor(there's two temp sensors near thermostat housing) had been bodged together with masking tape and the wires had corroded from the inside out and left a green powder where there used to be copper. Have a look at this a...

Thanks alot for all your help. After spending a few hours under the van last night, swapping things, checking things and cracking a few knuckles, i found that a previous owner had spliced in 2 new wires and only covered the twisted wires with masking tape(the cream paper style tape), one of the wir...
