Re: Roof Tents and Roof Racks
Weight of the tent plus the people in it you mean! One that I looked at was 65kg so that's well over 200kg with two adults. I'd expect that to be fine on my multipoint rack but it does make you wonder about the normal cars on 2 roof bars in some of the promo pics! It's an expensive tent for the dog ...

Re: Roof Tents and Roof Racks

I quite fancy something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/CANOPY-TENT-CAMPING-TRAVEL-NINTRI/dp/B016W...

Re: how to wire up a water level indicator that bypasses the rel
Cheers Martin I'll have a look. Good luck with the head gasket I think you can get a pressure test to find out if you have a head/gasket issue

Re: how to wire up a water level indicator that bypasses the rel
Hi Martin. Sorry in advance that this comment won't help you, but I have a similar issue and was wondering if it was easy to change the sensor in the tank. I'm pretty sure mine is leaking as the connector is often wet inside the rubber housing even after I've dried it! Although I can see from your e...

Re: Who still sells new high tops?
HI Woodyyellow. I've had a quick look and yeah the hightop does look to be of interest. Timing is the big issue though so would only work if it's able to hang around with you for a while... New life in Plymouth starts 6th May and will need a bit of time to get sorted (hopefully not as long as it's t...

Re: Who still sells new high tops?
thanks eiret25. It was a bernd jaeger one that fabzz was selling a couple of months back. It looked great (if a bit chunky). I did look on his site a while back and he didn't seem to be selling his anymore though. From memory I think he was selling the polyroof one http://www.polyroof.de/hochdaecher...

Re: Who still sells new high tops?
Thanks guys. I was leaning towards Fabzzz's JaegerBomb top (huge, and already nicely lined and insulated) but I now need to move house so will have to park this project for a while. I'm still interested to know of anyone who manufactures them new though - will do some research on whether I like the ...

Re: Fitting LT mirrors to T3 Syncro?
Mine are LT (I think), with the proper bottom mounts (no need to elongate the holes). I pushed the pin out and cut the bottom end of the arm down so the lower bend in the bar is pretty close to the sleeve that it slides into. The angle is OK now (the bar's pretty vertical) and I reckon they look fin...

Who still sells new high tops?
Hi I'm leaning strongly towards fitting a hightop (next best option is hardsided poptop but I've never seen any of those for sale...). Was looking at a 2nd hand sheldon top (the higher one cos I want to have options of adults sleeping up top) on ebay for £150, but I've just been told that it'd take ...

Re: any prep advisable before storing a tdi engine?
Thanks max and caddy. I had the exhaust inlets covered but didn't know about the pump so that's really useful to know.
How would I physically go about putting oil into the inlet and what kind of oil should I use? Thanks in advance...

any prep advisable before storing a tdi engine?
I'm just about to take the ahu out of my old daily before it heads off to the scrappers. The thing is it could be a while (maybe even a year) before it goes in the van. I just wondered if there's anything i should do whilst it's still running to prepare it. I remember being told that boat engines sh...

Re: Table between front seats
rich2goats - the table you're talking about is a westfalia item. They are fairly pricey and hard to get hold of, but do come up (I recently got one on ebay.de). Repro brackets are often sold on ebay over here, and I think it was someone on this forum or brickyard that was making/selling them - try s...

Re: Outer Front CV - removal from shaft
Hi syncrobaz. The inner part of the joint felt pretty wedged on the splines to me, but I'll feel it again tomorrow. It is a genuine part though (well the outer is anyway). It does look like it's had a bit of a bashing before mind (around the outer edge). Surely no-one would replace the inner collar ...
