The last mot expires in Feb, and it's just failed an mot now for lheadlight alignment a parking brake light efficiency, a tyre advisory plus four or five excessive corrosion areas (arches, cills and seals).. MOT and SORN
Hi, anyone legally minded know what to do here?
The van's just failed its MOT but is taxed until mid Feb. I will probably get the required work done over Jan. Do I have to SORN it now?
Thanks,
Dunc

Thanks, didn't know about annealing washers - good tip. Yep, will be using the torque wrench for sure.

Sump plug washer
Hi,
Am working up to the winter oil change and I just reused the old washer last time. Is it an M14 washer that's required? Be grateful if anyone has a link where I could buy a few online. Brickwerks have a minimum order of a fiver so I'd have to get about fifty of then!
Thanks,
Duncan

Rumbling Blower Motor
This was working a couple of months ago, but recently noticed when the fan is switched on it now mostly just rumbles and hardly blows any air. Are there any quick fixes I can try or will it be dash out and swap motor time? Is it safe to use as is? Does the blower have to work to pass the MOT? Thanks.

Re: Dip stick showing odd result
I've got a DG but did notice that the first 3.5 litres barely register on the dip stick at all. It's the last litre that goes from min to max on the dip stick. So you could just be low on oil. I think our's is burning around 250ml per 500 miles. Obviously the less it burns the better, but I don't th...

Re: Hard top vs pop top ??
With just the two of us a hard top works out great because we barely ever have to pack or unpack anything. No need to shuffle any bags around after parking up and all the tools and kit stay in the upper front. With three kids you'll have to move bags to make beds anyway, so I guess the question is c...

Re: T25 domestic electrics
How old are the batteries and is the alternator working?
Does the battery light on the dash go out after you start the engine and are you getting >13v going into the vehicle battery when the engine is running?

What's the problem? Are the electrics not working or batteries not charging, is it a zig cp7 or cp8?

Yep will do. The noise has gone away the last couple of days (I'm not complaining!) If/when it comes back I'll be sure to post an update. Thanks!

I'm not sure who they used for suppliers but I bet it wasn't Brickwerks. Can't see any branding on the pump.

Re: Bad noise after starting
Thanks for that. It was fine (no noise) this morning and this evening. The Mrs is taking it to Cropredy this weekend. Assuming it comes back in one piece I'll try slipping the belt off and poking around with the stethoscope the next time it happens. Does sound a bit like a sticking starter motor, bu...

Re: Locks for rear door and sliding door
Our van came without a sliding door handle so we had one of these fitted. You'll probably need the later version though (post '85..). We also had to get a grommet fitted (https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/index.php/door-handle-grommet-t3-sliding-door-early.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);...
