Re: Insulation- The Science

yup agree with your comments but was curious to see how it actually performed over a given time. my point being that there are many areas of heat loss in a van with windows, exposed metal etc and door is constantly being opened so figured there would be a point where the insulation hasn't actually h...

Insulation- The Science

Hi All, I am due to start a refit in the New Year and whilst discussing the various options with the owner the age old debate of insulation in campervans was at large. Now whilst I have my own opinions, as many others do I wondered if any actual science has been applied. Im not talking about calcula...

Re: Paint Your Wagon - with a roller!

loving this thread, nice one Ralph!! On that note, I was reading the wiki notes and noticed a photo of a factory high top (very nice) that's has a seitz style window. am curious about fitting these myself as I have never had success with the panel van window seals. just wondered if you know the van,...

Re: Getting to grips with a rotten roof (Pic heavy)

I know how you feel with skeleton guns, got me a 'heavy duty' one for £3 of the flea bay, one squeeze with sikaflex and bye bye gun!! on the water side, when I ripped out my interior last year I exposed the fibreglass high top, when I used to go in the van thereafter it would be a matter of minutes ...

Re: Ignition Switch or Starter Motor

didn't manage to have a good look the weekend, am thinking about everyone's advice with regard to parts etc, also I'm away the weekend and don't want to end up with bits on the floor and no moveable motor. one thing I did notice is that when it decides not to crank I can hear a single click coming f...

Re: Ignition Switch or Starter Motor

great, so if the starter cranks then the finger points to the switch?

just hope its a true test as it starts intermittently.

Ignition Switch or Starter Motor

Morn all, Van was struggling to crank last week, seemed to be no pattern. So, when I turn the key all the lights come on but then when I turn to crank, nothing!! this may happen several times and then she will fire. Have been told it could be the ignition switch or starter, how do I go about testing...

Re: Getting to grips with a rotten roof (Pic heavy)

can only imagine, one hell of a mess!!

nice technique, think it would probably tear a hole in the roof if sealed properly though!! :ok

Re: Middle 3 point seatbelt

I went to a scrappy that has damage history, so went for vehicles that had not been in a collision. One was from a galaxy and one from the touran, cost me about 20£ I think!! Got some spreader plates of the internet with the welded but attached and off I went. I have a high top so putting the spread...

Re: Middle 3 point seatbelt

another option is to get ceiling mounted twin tongue seat belt, they are used in tourans and galaxys and are actually VW parts. The ones you need are the rear middle.

These can be mounted to the rear beam and fully retracted when bed in use!!

Re: Getting to grips with a rotten roof (Pic heavy)

great effort pal!! going back to the RAMS did you use them to detach the roof under load or had you already removed the sealer? I was reading a post on the Samba where a guy was putting a Westy high top on and he had quite a job removing the roof as it had a fold over metal strip buried beneath the ...
