Re: Syncro Porn - Get inspired!!
I've been watching the military conversion, off and on. It's great to watch the work being done, but it's a shame I can't understand a word they're saying. Can't help but think his budget must be enormous - talk about no expense spared! I was also surprised, in the very first episode, at just how m...

Re: Syncro performance
Any A/T tyre in packed snow/ drifts will be fine. Ice is a different matter altogether. Ask the Scandanavians why they dont use A/T tyres on ice. Don't drive in 2wd with a locker on as you will most likely spin Hmmm. Not entirely true. A/Ts dont perform well in snow. They are at best tolerable unde...

Re: Syncro performance
We've had snow a couple of weeks now. I am very happy with my new studded Cooper Discoverers! Syncros are amazing in snow. Only limiting factors are ground clearance and torque. I've just driven a 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser 100 with 4.2 litre diesel, air suspension, autobox, leather interior etc. Very...

The Tri-Y design is more challenging to design and build, but it produces a broader torque curve than a racing-type 4-into-1 collector system, just what is needed to enhance flexibility in on-road vehicles.

Re: Epic Merc sprinter conversion
The Sprinter has nothing to do with Arctic Trucks. There are serveral other companies in Iceland (and elsewhere) who do this kind of work. This Sprinter was built by the owner and his buddies. Arctic Trucks work closely with Toyota, they even offer a serious version of the Hiace... As far as I know,...

Re: 16" damper extention with Andreas springs
I just put Andreas springs on my hightop westy. The springs top out and the the upper control arm touch the spring when the suspension moves. What I need is shock extensions and UCA spacer. The longer springs obviously changes the angle of the UCA and the spacer somewhat remedies that.

Re: Syncro virgin buying advice?
Be sure to drive it from cold. You can check the vc by jacking up one wheel, it should turn by hand with a steady and "gooey" resistance. If that makes sense... Or get it on grass and see if the fronts turn when the rears are spinning. Then drive the car warm at highway speeds and do a tig...

Re: tdi donor vehicle question
the vans "ears" were designed originally to provide cooling air for the entire engines, surely on ear can provide enough cooling for the intercooler? Well, the air intakes on T3s were designed for cooling Aircooled engines. SHOULD make sense to put an i/c in there now. Having driven syncr...

Also on the missus's shopping list. I know how Neil feels! anyway do we know anyone with one for a look see? I did get a whisper that one might be for sale somewhere (europe? america?) but the link on Karmann Coachbuilt was taken down quickly understandably. Anyway looking at all options at mo. The...
