Re: Rear Fog Light Voltage Mystery

I think if the lights are coming on as they should be on switch position 2, it's unlikely there's a wiring issue between the rear lights & the switch. Sounds more to me like the switch is starting to fail & is making a partial contact when in position 1. I'll try to see what mine does tonigh...

Re: Rear Fog Light Voltage Mystery

I'm all for modifying, but in this case don't you just need ebay? Linky to eBay There may be more on there, but Google took me straight to that one. Incidentally, there's a couple of other quick tests I'd do first... Disconnect the multiplug on the back of the lights & measure the voltage for th...

Re: Choke pull down restricter, advice/help required please

No in built restriction on mine, that I could see. There was also no resistance when I tried blowing through the pipe into the carb, so I'm fairly certain there's nothing in there. I've knocked something up, it's about 6mm long, but smallest hole I could manage was 1mm. It adds some restriction to t...

Re: Choke pull down restricter, advice/help required please

I'll check that tomorrow, thank you.

Still need to get a something in place just in case.
Doesn't help that there seems to 2 ways to spell it when Googling, ending in 'er' or 'or. Lol

Choke pull down restricter, advice/help required please

Hi all The choke pull down unit on my engine has failed & on Googling up related things, found out about the restricter that should be in the controlling vacuum pipe. I've found a few photos of said item, but no specs to re-produce one. Does anyone have a the measurements or able to take some pl...

Re: Smoking dash...

Decided not to do anything just yet, 1 issue at a time. As soon as I've got the engine running properly, I'll re-visit this. Hopefully by then this will have resolved itself if it is just something on the outside of the matrix burning off.  :|

I went the other way completely! Re-con engine is in, just trying to get it running properly now. Let's just say I'm having a few teething issues!

Re: Smoking dash...

It left a small ammount of residue on the windscreen, so at first I was sure it was coolant. It didn't seem to be like normal steam though. I guess I need to open the box back up so I can see where it's coming from. It definitely has the look of smoke though, not steam. It'll be disappointing if the...

Smoking dash...

Hi all. Got a weird issue and could do with some help. I recently started the new engine for the first time, but that's a different tale, when the smoke started. It was coming from the centre dash vents. First diagnosis, blower motor. I didn't even notice it was on, but when off the smoke seemed to ...

Re: Inlet Manifold Gasket - 2.1 MV Carb.

I completely forgot... I tried the heater plate through the relay, expecting the 15A fuse to blow. It didn't. All I can take from this is there must be some form of surge reduction within the relay, it's the only bit I've not replaced. If I come across another relay ever, I'm definitely breaking it ...

Re: Inlet Manifold Gasket - 2.1 MV Carb.

So that photo is really helpful. The ones you described as for dg carb, the whitest (is that a word? Most white. Lol ) in you photo, are the ones I've used. So that's good. If you look at the photo on the very top of this thread, there's the extra set that are a bit thinner and have the exact same s...

Re: Inlet Manifold Gasket - 2.1 MV Carb.

So ignoring the gaskets for the time being, I've been investigating the heater plate, but forgot to take photos.  :run I've had the manifold back off & the 3 bolts off of the heater cover. I'm guessing that the whole heating element should come out at this point, but it's well & truly jammed...

Re: Inlet Manifold Gasket - 2.1 MV Carb.

Carb manifold use the thin gaskets. It's the injection runners that need the thick plastic sandwich gaskets. When you say "thick plastic" both of the ones I have are the traditional "cardboard" type, for want of the correct term. One it just much thicker card than the other. I p...

Re: Inlet Manifold Gasket - 2.1 MV Carb.

Just a thought, should I get more gaskets now, since I have to remove the inlet, or can I reuse these?
