Re: Anyone can ruin you engine
Seem to remember this being discussed a while back, someone had fitted a bar to the bottom of the tailgate to prevent opening. I'm not really concerned about.

Re: What lurks beneath
That sounds good, you'll get a better idea of the damage from inside. You can get replacement card trim clips if you happen to break any on removal.

Got to agree with this, I did mine a couple of years ago, very satisfying if a bit daunting at first

Sounds like something has gone wrong with your breathers, you might want to drop the tank and check all the connections are intact.

Yes ^^^ thats where I got my inspiration from, I did refurb my 'Camping' badge with a chrome pen but it didn't last. The stick on chrome letters work well, they're just a bit fiddly.

Re: Re painting Badges
I refurbed mine with satin black spray for the base and some lazer cut metalic sticky letters from fleabay for about £5. Fairly easy to do, you just have to be careful placing the individual letters on, it turned out really well.

Re: Varnish/stain birch ply
I stained mine with a water based stain, I learnt to let them completely dry out before varnishing. I've also gone for a satin finish but have used gloss on the inner kitchen surfaces as its hard wearing and waterproof.

Think the op wants to get rid of the vents not re-enstate them, welding in a patch and getting that looking right would be pretty skilled though.

Re: Hi Top Awning Rail
I've got an awning rail attached to my EMC hightop, it was already fitted when I bought the van. It works well and is set at a good height, I've used it a lot and never had a problem with it. I've got two awnings and a sun canopy, all of which slide on. I'd need to check but pretty sure that its att...

Have you checked that fuel is getting to the pump from the tank? Is the fuel filter ok?

Re: A few questions - new tinkerer
Hi and welcome to the forum! I'll have a go at 2, 3 and 4, check all the fuel lines as if you've found a perished one you're probably going to find others, they're a fire risk. There should be only one fuel filter which should be just after the fuel tank underneath, if there's a filter in the engine...
