Re: Painting headlining

Never tried a headlining, but if it,s vinyl it should be possible. I,m planning on doing mine the winter. I would be cautious though of using the cheap sprays. I've recently done the interior of my Triumph Stag - from blue to black - with a vinyl recolouring kit from a firm called BESPOKE LEATHERING...

Re: T25 1.9 petrol waterboxer head stud removal

I had this problem on mine. I discovered one sheared off head stud and one rusted away to about half thickness that would have snapped as soon as it was tightened. I tried everything - plus gas, heat, welding a nut on, air impact tool-but eventually had to take it to an engineering firm. One drilled...

Re: Headlights

This came up on the Stag Owners Club forum a while back. If I remember correctly the official regulations state that if you replace a halogen bulb with an HID version it is illegal. However if you replace the complete unit for one designed specifically for an HID bulb, then that is legal.

Re: Mazda bongo

Also consider a Nissan Elgrand, 2 or 4wd versions. auto, fully loaded,3.0l turbo diesel (goes like stink) or 3.5 V6 petrol (v.thirsty). Seats slide and turn 90 or 180 degrees but dont come out very easily. Camper interiors made by a number of firms. Now for the plug! Mine is up for sale to fund the ...

Re: Sudden white smoke whilst driving

Hi Emma&Al, I had exactly the same thing a while back. It turned out to be a porous/cracked cylinder head and water was getting into the exhaust port between the valve and the exhaust pipe. It was intermittent for a short while and then became constant. I hope yours turns out to be something dif...

Water in exhaust

Hi All, Well the 2 week honeymoon with the Caravelle is well and truly over. I’m getting clouds of white smoke out of the exhaust which turns out to be steam. Coolant ( about 1cm in 30 minutes from the header tank) is getting into the exhaust of no. 4 cylinder. In the short term – unless the exhaust...

Re: Newbie with a question (or two)

Hi Marlinowner, Yes I'm well on top of the Stag cooling - or should that be overheating - problems. Touch wood mine is OK but I do tend to drive it with one eye on the temperature guage, as I did with the VW on the journey home.

Re: Newbie with a question (or two)

Hi again. I'm now a full member and decided it's time for an update. Firstly, thanks again for all the info everybody gave me. Armed with all this info I offered the seller £1500 less than he was asking which he reluctantly accepted about 10 days later. However I had seen another one advertised on t...

Re: Newbie with a question (or two)

Hi Ghost123uk, Thanks for all that info - very useful. I was able to get this vehicle up on a lift and have a really good look at it. I didn't notice any water leak problems but if I view it again I will double check. The bodywork and underside looked in remarkably good condition. The folder of rece...

Re: Newbie with a question (or two)

Hi Ghost123uk,
That's really good info. Whether I can persuade the seller to find the no. is another matter. He's supposed to be ringing me tomorrow so I'll keep you all posted. I may still be interested if it is a 1.9 as I can consider a swap at a later date.

Re: Newbie with a question (or two)

Hi Folks, Budgie7, Thanks for the comment. I thought it ought to be quiet.I'll have to push him to lower the price. Metalmick8y, My daily drivers are an ageing Mitsubishi 4 x 4 and a not quite so old Nissan Elgrande, which has to be sold to fund the VW. Plus a 22 yr old Mazda MX-5, which some regard...

Newbie with a question (or two)

Hi everybody, I'm thinking of buying a T25 Caravelle Auto (don't do manuals any more!). I had an Aircooled Transporter back in the l988 and loved it and have decided it's time to add another classic to my collection and went to look at and drive a Caravelle Auto yesterday. It has a few clonks and ra...
