jx 1.6td to 1z tdi conversion questions

Hello I am buying the bits to do the 1z conversion, I understand that some members livelyhoods rely on these conversions (and I apologise in advance) but I was hoping that somebody could help me with a couple of questions. 1) Can I use the original 1.6td engine mounting components on the 1z? 2) Am I...

You are right about that, I have started this project and every day I want to give up, but I think it will be worthwhile in the long run.

Go for 15" and you won't have an issue. Get 215/75X15 Tyres, no cutting, grinding, brings the odo back in line(if running 1.6td syncro), looks very similar to 16", also you must remember that original 16" syncros have more strenthening in the chasssis and other mods like bigger brakes...

You can do one of 2 things, 1)grind away clearance on the swing arm, cut away the guard clearance and add a plastic "guard cover". or 2)buy the correct swing arms and cut away the guard clearance and add a plastic "guard cover". Your gearing will be affected with 16" dependi...

I might be able to get a set of steel 16x6 ET30 syncro wheels with a load weight of 900kg(per wheel) for approx £375 - Brand new set of 5

I need to check with my supplier in Germany if you're interested? If anyone else wants any, I'll try to negotiate the price.

Cheers

Russell is more of an expert at this than I will ever be, If the TDi is later than 1994 it will most likely have a Immobiliser in the ECU. 1) Get the key + transponder that matches the ECU(even better get the intrument cluster as well as most of them hold a 4 digit pin that you use to code a new set...

I have a Hi Top fitted by Timber Tech, I had the same heat problem but I got some ultra lightweight thermal reflective material from Holland and installed it, it cost £40, I don't have any heat problems any more, make sure you get a vent with a mozzy screen. Random note - The roof with 15" tyre...

I have used the upper end Maplins 12V laptop charger for the last year on my Toshiba, it is on charge permanently, I cut a hole in the dash where the radio used to sit so the Laptop cradle sits "into" the dash permanently. I run my GPS and all my music runs via iTunes into the car, while o...

The last 2 Syncro jx diesels we got in from Germany read 10km/hr over the actual speed which was verified by 2 different GPS devices. I fitted 215/85 X 15 tyres and it brought the speedo in line with the actual speed. I spoke with my contact in Germany and he reckons it is normal. I can only assume ...
