Re: Wardrobe plans wanted

I've got a Westy wardrobe you can have for free. It has suffered with damp so only really good for taking measurements. It is located in Andover Hants.

Re: 1981 Aircooled Westy to Subaru EJ25 Conversion

With the Aircooled DK 4 speed box it has to move backwards by 60mm with the RJES conversion, so you have to extend the gear linkage, a kit is available from RJES with everything you need. It involves marking, cutting, fitting an extension tube and welding it all up, obviously keeping it all in line...

Re: Dyeing/Painting Westy Poptop Flocking

Cheers for the reply, I think that is the best solution, but not one I want to do at the moment.

What was it like scraping the flock off, was it easy?

Dyeing/Painting Westy Poptop Flocking

The interior flocking in my Westy poptop is very stained with mould etc, even after cleaning it still looks dirty.

Can anyone recommend a paint or dye that can be used, I am thinking of dyeing it a dark colour to hide the staining.

Thanks

Re: 1981 Aircooled Westy to Subaru EJ25 Conversion

With the DK gearbox & the wheels I have 70MPH is about 3500rpm, that is actual speed according to my satnav.
Check out RJES website ref gearbox ratios, I think the DK is quite good even though only a 4 speed.

Re: Subaru conversion? - thoughts please

I converted my Aircooled 81 westy back in 2015 & have not looked back. I have probably lowered the resale value as I would think early Aircooled vans are getting more sought after but for me it wasn't about resale value it was about usability & reliability. The van is transformed, it will cr...

Re: Paint Your Wagon - with a roller!

Hi all, I've started the process for painting and getting on with the prep and need to remove the fuel filler surround, but it won't budge, just wondering if anyone has any tricks for getting this out. I can see it should rotate and pull, but I can't shift it with the limited leverage I can get. Cu...

Subarus can be very fussy about what fuel is used ,,, don't ever put BP fuel in as it will also have a bad effect on how it drives ,,, they also run a lot better on 97 or 99 Ron fuel glad your sorted :ok I always put standard unleaded from BP in mine never had a problem, what should I be looking ou...

Fitting OE rear trailing arm bushes without special tools

Me & my brother in law fitted new OE bushes to his trailing arms, we were going to buy the special tool but couldn't justify the cost, so thought we would give it a go without, this is how we did it: The arms were blasted & painted, you need to make sure that the tube the bush fits into does...
