Re: Rustoleum in VW Colours... where to buy?
Er.. holds hand up if its Pastel White L90D! Are you going to Busfest ? The answer to your question may well be in the Wiki, which sadly is down.. I trust someone else who knows the answer will be along soon. It's definitely L90D... and White...;) Not planning to be at Malvern, but that may change....

Rustoleum in VW Colours... where to buy?
Previously I bought a 5l can of L90D Alpine White Rustoleum for our other van, which I ordered off the paintcode. I cannot seem to find where I ordered it from as our new van is H3D Marsala Red. I have done some hunting, but can anyone recommend a supplier of Rustoleum who can supply colours fro the...

Re: Getting your van off the ground
Depends what the job is... ramps if you just need to get underneath or stands if you need to take the wheels off.

OK, cool
If the pedal doesnt gradually fall away, is that indicative of the lack of vacuum or of the servo being faulty?
Cheers

Brake servo question...
Had a slightly odd issue with the brake servo the last few times I started the van after it had stood for a little while. Essentially, on starting, the brake servo doesn't appear to be working - the brake pedal is hard, and the brakes not very effective. After a few minutes the pedal, goes back to n...

Re: Westfalia Table stripped thread
The coating is zinc. Be very careful welding it, as the fumes are poisonous. Best bet is to cut/grind the old nut off, and then clean off the zinc where the new nut is going to be welded. Once done you can paint with galvafroid or zinc hell, or some other zinc rich cold galvanising paint. :ok Cheers...

Re: Westfalia Table stripped thread
Is the the later type table with flat section on the leg? If so, the base unscrews from the table top, revealing a nut welded to the back of the plate. If it is the nut that is stripped, then it wouldn't be too difficult to remove with a grinder and weld a new nut on. Similarly, the hand screw is av...

Tyre size for a 15" x 7" rim on a JX westy...
I am looking to try and narrow down the best size tyre to fit into a 15x7" rim... The van is a westy with an OKish 1.6TD JX engine, so I don't want to raise the gearing or loose any top speed particularly. From what I read, standard size on carat alloys is 205/70R14. The closest size in the rec...

Westfalia Front Table dimensions
I would like to like to recreate a westy front table to go into our California. I know they are available from a couple of sources, but I want to have a go anyway... I want it to be as close to factory as possible, but I don't have one to work from as a pattern. I wonder if someone who has one could...

Re: The ultimate portable T25 tool kit
I agree with all of the comments about proper maintenance, however, I still think a vehicle specific set of tools is a worthwhile thing to keep in the van. We did a similar exercise when trying to minimise weight on Landrover expeditions. Certain sized fasteners are standard, but there are specific ...

Re: Tailgate struts
The van end is held on with a small circlip - take a small electrical screwdriver, and carefully lever the circlip off the post (catching it when it flies off) then simply pull the strut end off. The end on the tailgate is a ball and socket with should have a metal clip holding the strut onto the ba...

Re: Recommend a heavy duty pop rivet gun
Hand or air?
I bought a Beta one at a local factors as I was fed up with the normal cheap gun type ones, and that's very good but won't do 6mm I don't think..
If I am doing more than a couple I will get my PCL air rivet gun out, and that is excellent.
Cheers

Re: Westy Fridge - Gas Connection?
Probably 8mm, so just get an 8mm compression stop end from a plumbers merchant. Make sure you wrap it with plenty of ptfe & test with washing up soap bubbles afterwards. Perfect, exactly what I needed ;) Familiar with pipework being specified by thread - hence the question. Gas stuff is a new o...

Re: Westy Fridge - Gas Connection?
That's a good suggestion, thanks - I hadn't really considered that. The only issue I can see is that the quick connector looks to be for flexible hose, whereas the appliances in the Westy are all on copper hardline... I guess there must be some fittings to go from hardline to flexible available too....
