Re: 1.8T

Yeh I will be converting my Aircooled eventually, I can do the work myself but want to know what I'm going to need so I can start getting all the parts together. I'll have a look for some of the build threads on the samba, I mostly want to see how people have mounted them, if they used diesel engine...

Hi guys, had anyone on here attempted a 1.8T conversion on their van and have any pictures of the engine mounts, or a build thread?
Just looking at what I will need for a future conversion

Re: Timing Settings 2.0CU

Re: Timing Settings 2.0CU

I'll be honest mine is a bit of a project too, had the engine out end of last year, rebuilt heads new piston rings every gasket but didn't touch the dizzy as I had no way of setting the timing. It has always seemed a bit underpowered so I'm hoping it will run a bit better after setting the timing co...

Re: 2.0CU J TUBES

I have repaired the heat exchanger for the time being, it is on the original vw ones so they haven't done bad really, the n/s one is solid and isn't even holed but the o/s had been welded previously. A bit of chemical metal and some exhaust bandage looks like it has done the job but wont really know...

Re: 2.0CU J TUBES

I'm not too sure tbh I've repaired the original one for the time being, chemical metal and exhaust bandage so should hold out until I source a nice shiny new one. I will have to have a look at the early WBX ones though and see if they do fit

Re: Removing cylinder heads

Hi saran, yes pushrod tubes removed, the one side came loose fine. I have removed the cylinder head and barrel together now so just have to seperate the two! Then on with the other side! Are there any warning signs of damaged heads I should be looking out for?

Cheers

Removing cylinder heads

Hi guys, I'm in the process of removing the cylinder heads from my 2.0 CU. I have removed the head bolts but the heads don't want to seem to come away without the barrels attached. is the best way just to prize the cylinder head away from the barrel with a pry bar or the like? Just asking before I s...

Re: Cylinder Head Gasket

I know there is one called steel seal and another called k-seal, we sell a lot of k-seal in work for leak repairs on trucks seems to work well, but never used it personally
