Electric motor homes and camper vans

"You and Yours" BBC radio 4 today at approx. 12.30, had a small item relating to electric motor homes and campers. They touched upon problems such as battery weight and limited range.
The things some of us listen to while working...

Re: Winterising

Hi Peteandnero, I spose my mind set is DG wasserboxer - others far more expert will be able to shed some light on the particulars (or idiosycrasies) of your AFN. Out of interest, how long have you had your van? Being a careful-ish bloke I would check, or have checked, all the things they look at for...

Re: Winterising

If you're not driving it regularly, at least disconnect the battery(ies). Ideally bring batts indoors and put on charge with an automatic / intelligent charger from time to time. Do a full cooling system flush and replace the coolant - important for corrosion protection. See the Wiki for details. Bu...

Re: Collant change advice

When running the engine up to warm (as suggested above) remember to set the heater controls to hot, so that the heater matrix flushes. If you live in a hard water area suggest you use deionised water to dilute the coolant of your choice. I parked our van nose up our slightly sloping drive. A few tur...

Re: Steering rack near side boot MOT fail

Thanks Itchy, only just seen your post.
I had the pair replaced, as the other (non failed one) was 'passable' but not in the first flush of youth.
Regards, H.

Thanks Mocki.
I wondered about bushes, that sort of thing, as well.
Thanks

Steering rack near side boot MOT fail

Hi All, So our Holdsworth villa failed the mot the other day - the tester actually apologised! He said the rest of the van is fine. I will get the work done by the Indi garage who tested it. It seems a good idea to get new boots on both sides, although the tester said they could just replace the fai...

Re: Looking for opinions about paintjob

Hi, the colour scheme sounds pretty good - how well behaved are your local flying friends? The birds local to us have had great fun dive bombing our white T25, right up until we got a bright red Fabia, six years old but still nice and shiny. Now they aim at that! Re colour of bumpers, etc. How often...

Re: Awning fail - Outdoor Revolution EX Combi

Hi Matt Bit of a b*gg*r your drive away failing like that. Do you think it might perhaps be ultraviolet degradation, rather than rain damage? Also storing the thing in a warm or hot environment can play havoc- I stored one of our nylon/synthetic tents in the loft... It looked like a prune the next t...

I used spray on grease - seemed to do the job. Half the battle seems to be getting all the old crud off.

Just a shot in the dark, really, but how are your HT leads and spark plugs? Nice light brown on the plug insulators?

Had a similar issue - a wee smear of plumbers silicon grease allowed the washer to bed down smoothly without over tightening. The brand I used was Black Swan.

Re: Van Heaters

A world of luxury awaits you and your better half. The wife tells me she would not go back to tent camping- the best thing about the camper being the Rock and roll bed, in her opinion, plus the convenience of fridge and cooker. In retrospect or if starting from scratch, we would now go for a pop top...

Re: Rattle can Alpine white/Weiss codes Update

Hi All So - an update. Adie89, you are correct re paint code label in van. Sadly, the old paintwork has faded more than I realised, which came to light when I removed the sliding door gear cover. The paintwork behind it is a very bright cream white... Following phinw 's suggestion I searched around ...
