Does anyone know whether enamel paints (such as used on model kits) would be hard-wearing enough to use on badges on your van?
Mine has the TRANSPORTER in separate letters across the tailgate and thought when he is (finally, if ever) finished it would be nice to do each letter a different colour.

Piston ring sets on Brickwerks
Can anyone explain this? My van is smoking and turbo and exhaust have been replaced so my mechanic suspects worn piston rings (I don't know). Looked on BW and they have a range for the 1.6 TD but say 1st oversized and 2nd oversized on different sets. How do I know which set I need? Thanks in advance...

Re: Rear speakers
Not too bad, used the same process to wire subs from front to back the other day including rca cable from head unit to rear and power cable from battery to roof.

Re: Rear speakers
Drill the pillar by the door (whichever side) get a bent coathanger and pass it down from the top (may require another hole drilled depending on the layout). Put coathanger down until it can be attached to cable with duck tape then pull it through and run along side of roof. If your speakers are low...

Turbo reconditioning kits 1.6 td JX
Does anyone know whether these are any good? The guy who works on my van for me suspects that a seal is leaking on mine and pulling in oil which may be why Troopy smokes so much. I have rung a coupe of turbo companies and for replacing the bearings and seals it is around £220-250 but I have seen sea...

Re: Under dash speakers
Sorry, forgot to add that I don't have any speakers in the front. Headunit is Sony XPlod (not sure of model) The 6x9's are 500w Sony XPlod . The flat subs are 2x 12" 1200w Auna driven by a 900w Fli amp and the new ones are 2x 1500w Edge subs with an integrated amplifier. I have this set up beca...

Re: Under dash speakers
I have a number of speakers in my bus  Currently I have 4 6x9" on the floor in the rear as I am waiting to fit the new interior. These will be bolted in a row to the roof section when it is done. There are 2 12" flat subs in the rear and another two 12" going in the roof section ...

Re: Anti theft devices
I rely on living in a cul-de-sac and the thieves having to find reverse gear
Even if stolen I expect to find him at the end of the road because they couldn't turn him round.

Re: Reverse gear reluctance.
I had the same but I found there was a two tier thing to my gears, for reasons unknown. There seems to be a tier that will get 1 -5, but then there seems to be a second 'deep' area just below that is reserved for reverse.. Just feels a bit lower than that required for the rest of the gears. Not at a...

Re: Anyone fitted a double din head unit to their bus?
Hi Troopy I gave up with all the crap in my Audi double din etc etc. bought a mechless Kenwood for the van and use my phone for satnav as it's more upto date than the 4 month old tomtom I bought. just added a spare phone cover to the dash which I slip my phone into. Much easier and nothing left in ...

Stereo switching off whn not running, intermittent
Hi all, got a bit of a puzzler. When engine is not turning over but ignition on, my stereo keeps switching itself on and off if the volume was left high when I last stopped the bus. Fine when running. It currently runs four 6x9 passive speakers. Battery and alternator are fine and belts recently rep...

Re: Replacing injector fuel pipes
The pipe should seal directly onto the injector, the washer could be the heat shield between the injector and head,if it's a turbo diesel,or copper washer for tdi return pipe, unfortunately I don't know what web site your on Thanks for the reply. Its a TD and brought the pipes from Brickwerks but JK ...
