Re: 1.9 DG engine

I’m sure you’ll see 70mph indicated on the speedo, but what that is in reality may not be quite that!! And as for 28mpg!!! Surely a slip of the typing finger (more like 18!)

Re: The T3200E thread

Surely it will merit an invitation to a ‘club day out’ viewing when this project is finally complete?!!

Re: Dimensions of space under RustyLee bed

I could measure the dimensions tomorrow if you really want them, but it’s really not a big space and a ‘porta potti’ type loo would need to be bespoke made and even then it would be difficult to lift in and out without tilting it!

Re: Engine I D ?

Thanks for the reply. The cam isn’t actually as bad as it appears in the pics. The brown is in fact not rust but dust stuck to the oil that was it was coated with. A quick wipe reveals nice clean lobes. I appreciate what you have said and indeed maybe I could have taken a bit more care! I’ve since l...

Engine I D ?

Need some help from the diesel gurus on here. About 5 years ago(when I thought I had more time than it turns out that I actually do have!) I bought from a member on here, a 1.9 TDI and correctly configured loom with key etc to fit to my syncro Doka. Fast-forward five years and it’s still on the pall...

Re: Upgraded roof beds

Surely it would be almost impossible to remove the ply in your super Viking? It’s integral to the structure and the top wouldn’t work without it. I find that the roof only just closes as it is and that’s with the standard foam (although, I think ours is thicker than 25/30mm)

Re: Rusty lee bed install advice needed

I fixed small (approx 18x18) angle brackets to the inside edge of the frames at approx 150 centres. I then screwed through these to the ply. Used 13mm self drilling ‘wafer tek’ screws to the steel and 16x4 wood screws to the ply. As these were visible in the back of the seat, I then cut a piece of 4...

Re: 1.7ky won’t start.

How I’ll I know if the fuel is getting to the injectors? I can see fuel at the loosened nuts, but I’m unsure if it’s at sufficiently high enough pressure to be squirting correctly actually at the injectors.

Re: 1.7ky won’t start.

Well I’m still no better off!! You may wonder why it’s been so long since my last post, but that’s another story. I gave up after struggling with my attempts to bleed and concentrated on finishing the camper conversion, which is now done and my daughter needs to use it asap. So, with the aid of a me...

Re: Sliding door rollers and hinge

I cut a piece of 1.2 stainless steel to fit the flat area in the runner aperture. It took a bit of fiddling but it was worth it. I bonded it into place with ms polymer adhesive. Looks tidy and has made the door action smoother and quieter. Lasted ok for the last 4 years and no sign of wearing out.

Re: new panel damage

Little bit fiddly, as you’ll need to sand and remove all of the stonechip from below the fold line before filling. It’ll be impossible to blend it without doing so.(apologies if I’m just stating the obvious)

Re: new panel damage

Access is not particularly good at that point even if you were a good ‘old school’ panel beater with the correct tools. As much as we dislike filler, I’m With Multisi… just fill it!

Re: Tyre recommendation

I agree with cobblers there. I’ve had the same ‘Open Country’tyres on my work 4x4 pick up truck and they are a great tyre. Not at all noisy on the tarmac, good in the wet and chunky enough to give better grip when I need to go off into the soft fields. Also they are 108/110 load rated. They were on ...

Re: 1.7ky won’t start.

Thanks for your helpful replies, I’m going to enlist the assistance of a willing helper to crank as I bleed tomorrow. On a different note I’ve had more joy with my old JX syncro . (See separate post in syncro)
