my new module arrived and the replacement vacuum unit.
All fitted with no problems and fired up straight away.
I've been driving it a few days now, haven't covered a great deal of miles but is running great and all appears to have been resolved.

It had a double vacuum unit, I don't think you can get them.
I'll have a look tonight , if not I might just buy yet another coil.
If I remove my tachometer wire fro the coil, the dizzy wires and my fuel pump wires, should I just have a live going to the coil ?
Because mine has got an earth as well.

Just thought I'd check in case I did any damage .
I've just done the wise thing ( not just for this problem but for any future ones ) and invested in a Bentley Manual !
I hope it's worth the money

Hi, yet again big herb. I'm afraid I'm a bit unsure of it all now. I'll tell u exactly what I did . Turned pulley to tdc so timing mark pointed to 0 on scale and rotar arm pointed to No 1 lead. Removed old dizzy, dropped new one in and made sure the lug was in the slot and nipped up. Started engine,...

I'll try running another wire tomorrow and putting an Earth on the dizzy and also charge the battery .
