Re: Constant clicking Switch Relay
Worth getting a multimeter and checking voltages,it could be the alternator not giving out enough voltage so when something is turned on the relay clicks off, welcome aboard

Re: real mpg figures for T3's V T4's
I have an AAZ in a t3 syncro doka, the speedo agrees with the satnat on speed, miles are about 3%less,running 225/70 -15 tyres returns 32 mpg general driving 50-55 mph,my t4 1.9 td camper has the same tyre size weighs 2.1 tons, inter cooled and moderately tweaked gives 36 mpg at the same easy holiday d...

Re: AAZ Coolant Tank
The system works by sending the coolant to the rear tank when it gets hot and expands, then when the engine cools it gets sucked back to the tank with the blue cap so always kept full ,so put coolant in the rear tank up to the minimum mark when cold and fill the one with the blue cap to full, think th...

Re: Diesel Injector Querie UPDATE
Blue smoke is usually oil burning, could be oil in the inlet pipe work from worn engine breathing heavily, valve stem oil seals gone hard from old age, turbo seals leaking into air inlet pipes, poor compression not burning the diesel, poor spray patten from warn injectors, timing set incorrectly not burni...

Re: Diesel Injector Querie
That is an AAZ indirect diesel,a piece of leak back pipe with a bolt will do as a temporary fix till you get the proper one,the injector pump should have a vacuum fuel enrichment devise on it to give more fuel when boosting assuming it has a turbo on it,ALH is a TDI,definitely not that engine,engine...

Re: Back for help coolant problem
Re the knocking, have you checked the valve clearance,as the engine warms up the clearance reduces,as for getting hot? The gauge should sit around the middle, normally the rad fan will come on at about three quarters, the heater will be putting out hot air after a mile or so if all is correct, the red l...

Crank bolt to timing pulley is 90 nm or 65 ftlbs plus 90 degrees I think,VW tools are 1 meter long to do it properly

Re: Removing/refitting fuel pump on jx
No it’s creates a vacuum for the brake servo so no bleeding involved except a bit of knuckle skin, after the bolt and clamp is removed it just lifts out,no timing, may have to turn it a bit to get the gear wheel on the bottom to engage.there is an o ring on the bottom of the pump, should be ok sure Bri...

Re: Removing/refitting fuel pump on jx
There is an adapter that screws into the pump and a small extension rod that screws onto the dial and the dial locates into the adapter with a small kneeled screw,I don’t remember removing any water pipes or vacuum pump to do the timing, vacuum pump is held in place by a m8 bolt, just undo and lift ou...

Re: Removing/refitting fuel pump on jx
There is a tool for locking the bottom sprocket,I tend to fit the belt to the pump, then lightly clamp it with a small pair of grips, then get it around the crank, then the tensioner, then the cam sprocket with it very loose, tighten the cam bolt lightly until you can just move the sprocket on the cam th...

Re: Removing/refitting fuel pump on jx
Always turn the engine over with a spanner first,2 complete revaluations after timing it up BEFOREtrying to start it,and injectors don’t line up,doesn’t matter
