I couldn't agree more and a great post by maxstu. I just wandered if he was suggesting that you should be aiming for +ve camber - it would seem so from the bit about adjusting until bubble is on the right and the drainpipe etc. I think camber should be zero and it's worth saying this in case people ...

When you get them, if one of your old front wheel bolts go through the holes in the alloys then then are already 14mm but if they don't quite fit then they were designed for 12mm bolts and will need drilling. I just did mine with a 15mm drill to make it easier to fit. A 14mm drill will be big enough...

Thanks for this bob. All things in this document seem to suggest that the unladen weight of vans is 1500kg with a payload of about 1000kg so gross of 2500kg, comprised of max axle weight of 1200 Front and 1300 Rear. I wouldn't want to push anywhere near the limits, but this does suggest that load in...

Curb weight of single cab pickup

Have been looking at some new wheels/tyres and reading up on tyre load index on here - I have a single cab pickup that I use for carrying volume rather than weight. I know the lowest index for tyres should be 97 so I just wondered if anyone knows the difference in unladen weight between my sort of v...

Makes a bad noise, yes. Don't know about the heat yeat - will keep you posted. I am using the pump with the accumulator and filter all together under the van. I didn't use the lifter pump as I managed to mount the main pump at the same level as the tant outlet.

Hi - just put a gti 8v K-Jet (EV) engine in to replace my 1,6d - it took about 3 weeks of evenings from when I first got the engine while I was offering stuff up and working out neat ways to do it - then I had 4 days off work and some help from a friend to actually put the thing together. The fun bi...

Pilot Bearing

Am getting stuff together to convert 1.6na diesel to golf mk1 1.8 gti K.Jet engine. I have heard that I will need to use a pilot bearing/spiggot bearing for the end of the input shaft - can anyone shed any light on this and possibly vw part number or picture. Cheers.

Done this - all seems ok - I wandered if it might be the cam shaft bearings or even an warn, uneven cam shaft. Do you think it would be obvious? I will take a look anyway, but don't really expect to be able to wobble the cam. Maybe the engine is unbalanced - I have been told this might be the case. ...

The offset (ET) is the distance between the center of the wheel across it's width, and the inside surface edge where it mates to the wheel hub. The ET on the stock 14" x 5" steel rims was about 35mm, I think. For wheels that are 2" wider, the same ET would mean that 1" is gained ...

Fox - the hinge effect you have shown is more like the front suspension. Looking at the design of the rear trailing arm suspension it suggests that it shouldn't matter what height of spring you have. The hinge pivots on the inside and outside mounting of the chassis (both in front of the wheel) and ...
