... did you have the van painted or did you buy it done mm I've owned the van for 19 years and never had the van painted. AFAIK these pics show the original paint applied by VW at the factory when the vehicle was made. Quite remarkable! But there are other places on the vehicle where it looks like ...

The neoprene sheet is more dense than the VW seal so the thickness for the right amount of give is quite critical. Thank you for the pictures showing the part and its number. I see vwheritage call it a seal, so that must be its purpose. With that in mind, and to align my crafting with your picture, I've repaced some of the small bit of foam I had cut out by the catch so the seal is complete all round the apertur...

it was fitted to some of the last vans ... Being made in 1982, the van is towards the last of the air cooled . In those places where the original foam had decayed away, it was clear to see that road spray had been sucked into the engine bay through this aperture. I'm hoping the replacement foam wil...

OK. Here's a rear view of the vehicle posing on the approach to Hawes. There's lots of 1st gear work here.
