Re: Poll:which way do you sleep?

Always used to do it normally (head to tailgate) until this year's holiday on Western Isles with 1 year old on parcel shelf bed. This forced us to change around.
At 6'3" I was concerned at not fitting, but found it was better as my feet did not hang out the end in the cold.

Re: T25 sliding door side window

Many campers were based on panel vans, so may not have had original VW windows - think how many modern vans have windows from the original maniufacturer, rather than from a caravan company. Mine has straight rectangualr windows with curved corners. I would have thought that any normal glass supplier...

Re: black box

Which seat is it under?
If it is a largish box with air hoses coming out of it, then it is a heater and is supposed to get hot.
If it is smallish and has wires coming out of it, then it probably shouldn't.

Re: Euro-look yellow head lamps

Even the French have not had yellow headlights for 15-odd years.
Doesn't it reduce the brightness a lot?

Re: sliding door trim

Mine has two overlapping L sections of black plastic, each about 30 x 30 mm. The lower one is the right way up, with the upstand against the exposed edge of the floor and the horizontal part laid on the cill, and the upper one has the horizontal part screwed on to the floor finish and the downstand ...

Re: Can fridge be vented through van louvre vents?

You can get combined top vents, which have a small spigot to attach the flue, and the rest is just open vent for cooling airflow. Mine has a grill covered slot about 1.5 inches high at the top and bottom of the fridge door, so it draws and expels cooling air from inside the van, similar concept to W...

Re: Cab bunk FAIL.. Anyother ideas??

I've just installed the Bluebird cab bunk with the springy poles. Did not want to drill a new hole in the A pillar to fit it, because: a) There are already plenty of holes in it, so why weaken it further b) It is a sodding thick piece of steel, so wondered how many drill bits I would blunt (and wind...

Re: Camp sites or free spots in yourkshire dales

There is also a discrete spot at Street Gate, just between Malham Cove and Tarn.
Bit isolated (but isn't that the point?), and secluded by raised earthworks around a small quarry-looking thing.

Also try Fidden Farm, at Fionnaporth on Mull (excuse spelling).
In fact, almost anywhere on the Scottish west coast and islands - if you want to go that far.

Re: Has anyone got the Fiamma Bi-pot 30 toilet?

I have. Chose it as it was the shortest, so better able to fit in a box.
Quality is fine. In fact Fiamma boast it is stronger as it has a single piece blown plastic moulding, so no weak seams. I am pleased to say that at 80kgs I have not had to test this!

Re: Double front passenger seat

Thanks Graham - that sorts out the "may I" part. So with a bar running across the front and back of the two seat boxes to create a base, and a lateral bar across the seat back, that will give seat mounting points as well as places to mount a 3 point seat belt. Anyone else done that - or di...

Double front passenger seat

Now we have a small daughter, I have fitted a 3 point seatbelt in the back, but she seems very left behind, back there. To better share the experience with her, we would like to get her up front, meaning a double passenger seat. This will also create a space more suitable for adapting to a cab bed /...

Re: Single or double courtain rails??

I've got the stretcchy curtain wire on the tailgate like most others, though the original curtains used a bottom rail, and that was a bit fiddly to open.
Side curtains have short velcro strips stitched along the bottom, which stick to the carpeted walls.

We have spent New Years Eves at the National Trust sites at Landale and Wasdale. Can't comment on the TV reception though - not really why we went there.
